The load of wank is that you had "special" guernseys for a premiership reunion!!!

Saturday is the 100 year, yes Jack "Centenary Year", of the Mallala FC. Its a pretty special day I would have thought, given no other clubs in the APFL have been around this long! Half an hour is nothing anyway, at least the presentation of jumpers at half time of the A's will be ran properly and not a distant 5 minute memory of people running around like chooks trying to get it over so that the B grade game isnt affected, this way the idea of centenary guernseys will have some meaning to those people who will be watching the presentation and then the game. I thought the second time round you might have worked that out!

At a guess I'd assume that parents of the mini's wouldn't have too many issues with getting up a half an hour early!! Its not about the parents Jack, the kids love it and you know it. I'm sure they'll embrace the day like the rest of the club will!!!

here here, so what if we have to start early just means we beer graders can maybe miss the rain i am scared of water.......
It will be a great opportunity for you to come along and get some ideas for your centenary in 90 years time!!!

Must have opened of some old wounds that day..the day the mighty Mallala got knocked off by the cellar dwelling Eagles. Replica guernseys were very well received by those of us who wore the originals back in 1984. The only people that the presentation of centenary guernseys will have meaning to will be the ones that were around back then ie no-one....

The reason I tee'd off on Jack was that I think most people that love their footy and realise the work that goes into a country club would understand that a Centenary celebration is hardly a "load of wank" for a country football club!
Pretty good indication of a strong, well managed, sustainable footy club!! It is possible Mr Beefy! Sounds to me like its sour grapes!

I gotta agree in part there Jack. I have been thinking about this for a week or so and my thoughts are to take a minute off of each quarter from the Juniors to B Grade. This will give 12 minutes + the 8 minute half time break that already exists for the B Grade which equals 20 minutes. That should be enough time to get what they need to do done and play on with the game. If it happened to take longer than twenty minutes and the A Grade start a few minutes late who cares. This way no one will be affected as heavily. Anyway its done now so lets look forward to it.

What a beautiful day!!!!

I would have thought the could get by for one week anyways, it's not as though they are playing for sheep stations the juniors, let's all suck it up and get behind them, it's a fantastic achievement, a lot of helpers/volunteers and members in that time not to mention all the teams and clubs that have not made it that far. So what if the Juniors/B-grade shaves a few minutes off of game time, they've earned this honour (7 premierships, 44 grand finals and many Mail Medals);

Also If there is a long service leave feel free to take it now, swampy maybe you blokes could take off till let's say....hmmmmm November?

Got the margin right too this week. Yeaahh! Well it really was a beautiful day today. We started half an hour early to KINDLY accomodate presentations that took a whole ten minutes. . Maybe Mallala did want to get the A Grade finished before dark Ace? ;) Not sure on the Mallala guernseys, maybe they thought someone was gonna get reported and didn't want them identified. :? Who would have thought that you wouldn't be able to tell who was who with white numbers on a white guernsey.

I know I'm gonna get slammed for this but the question has to be asked...................

DO MALLALA CHOKE ON BIG OCCASIONS WHEN PLAYING AT HOME???????????

Maybe Ace & Jack can help me answering this. Say Hi to your Mum's for me!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

interesting that quote, i dont think that hummocks coach jazz is given enough credit for that win. malalla nearly one the game in one quarter of football. hummocks out coached the magpies on that day for sure. there game plan to shut down runners and tag out key player makers while playing a disciplined defensive style worked wonders. dont think choke is the word that is discreditting the eagles on that day. just my thoughts anyway

Your right there Swamp. As much as i loved that win on saturday and as much as it has brought us back into the mix, i can't help but feel that we have probably given Mallala the wake up call that they could've done with before last years finals. Wouldn't like to be the teams playing them in the next couple of weeks!

Any footy historian would be able to tell you MC that all clubs used to wear guernseys with a white number on the back and also plain white shorts. I agree the numbers were very difficult to see, but honestly did it really matter? Was a terriffic day for the footy club and a real success, pity the A grade let the club down a bit with their efforts. We're just lucky we get another chance to rectify it unlike our performance in last years big game!

I thought the jumpers served thier purpose well and they were excepted by most people that mattered very very well, particularly the bidders at the auction after the match. Together the set of 21 guernseys probably wouldve fetched over $15,000 for the footy club, with the highest purchased for around the $1800 mark and 2 or 3 over $1500. This alone was a great reward for the efforts of Jimmy Franks and the centenary organising committee of the club, they did a fantastic job. The day was a good reminder of how lucky we are to play for such a great footy club.

=D> Nah Beefy, on 2nd thoughts it probably would take them half an hour to tell everyone how much better than everyone else they are! It's funny all our premiership reunions seem to happen when we play Mallala... What did the Rooster say, 44 grand finals for 7 premierships? Sounds about right! And I was more than happy to purchase the replica premiership guernsey I wore on the day! Especially as it went for the lowest price on the night! ;) Don't know what that says... More to do with the replica wearer than the original wearer I'd say!
