Have South ever played West Torrens in a Grand Final

Postby Sojourner » Wed Nov 26, 2008 6:46 pm

Given that South are to play Woodville West Torrens in "Rivalry Round" this season, just wondering if South and Torrens ever met in a Grand Final?

Not a League grand final, a couple of Reserves Grand Finals, though.

And an Escort Cup by the looks!

From "Full Points Footy"

"The only achievement of note during the club's final decade was its 7.15 (57) to 5.7 (37) defeat of South Adelaide in the 1983 Escort Cup grand final".

No. Because as far back as anybody can remember neither has ever played in one (unless you are older than 29)

Sorry, I think from previous posts it is obvious that I am not a South fan - I honestly belive they should be disbanded, go back to 8 teams and Westies take over the entire Southern zone - if nothing else West are good at developing juniors - South are not (and now they have lost David Tiller).

I think there were some showers, but the wind probably had more impact from what I read.

Every time I think of South Adelaide v West Torrens matches, I think of round 3 1966 at Thebarton Oval when Neil Hawke hurt his shoulder trying to knock Neil Kerley's block off. It didn't do Hawke's cricket career many favours, and South won by 5 points.
