What's the deal here? 2 and a half years is a long bloody time, did they specify a number of games or is this coming under the umbrella of '12-game life ban'?

I'm not gonna comment on this too much but no specification of games just banned until start of 2012.

You are giving us college boys a bad name.

First time I ever got reported was retaliating against one of your blokes

Ovingham Looks as if some of the players have thrown in the towel with lack of wins on the board.(Shame about this when it looked as if they could have worked for spot in the finals with 6 teams all fighting for that 5th spot and they are not far behind any of them)

Fair Call on almost half way Baggy.
Looks like I'll be getting myself a Mobile Phone tumor rustling up numbers at Ovies tho.
Our fella's problem is self belief, turn some results around and things can still fall the right way for us, even a lss to St.Pauls this week doesnt completely put us out of the running.
The 2 games I've been around have shown promise at times.. with us being competitive until the 3/4 time.
Dissapointing in the Last against Adel.Uni, really let a win slip there.
Good Luck Ovies!

no way you still got the smarts to know not to hit an umpire.. go hit a coaches box or something.. least he will have some time to think about, if he returns to the game

From reading what happened on hear the umpire grabbed him and he did not know it was the umpire ( I hope) if he knew it was the umpire then yes but from what I read and the way I read it the player was unaware of who grabbed him.

He knew it was the umpire so absolotely no excuse!! there should be no excuse full stop the rules are clear and simple! i dnt think it says anywhere in the rule book if the umpire grabs u you can push/attempt to strike him.

Pretty sure it says in the rule book that an umpire should not touch a player either though.

Shouldnt hit anyone on the field, player or umpire.

end of story.

If umpire touched him then he should be thrown the book aswell.

I agree with you there Browny my point was just that the bloke would be shattered not being able to play anywhere until the start of the 2012 season no matter what he did or didnt do

I think it should be end of discussion, this is never going to be resolved through a forum, 2 seperate clubs with 2 different version of events, whether it was the right decision by the SAAFL or the wrong one, they heard their evidence and came up with what they thought was a suitable punishment.
It's human nature to defend your club, this is going nowhere now.

forgetting about the incident, focussing on the punishment. the SAAFL have just bought in the 12 match = life ban rule. this bloke has been put out until the start of 2012... that just doesn't add up to me. do you think that they will now give these kind of punishments to a) stamp out unwanted behaviour and b) still allow the bloke to play in the SAAFL at a later stage.

if this is the case, think about the bloke from Paralowie who got the life ban earlier this year IIRC, can he say appeal and get his punishment changed into a season or two out of the game to think about what he did (not bringing up the incident as from previous threads he obviously wasn't guilty of negligence or foul play, but that's not the point) so that he still has time out but gets to play again at a later date.

maybe this needs it's own thread... this could get outta control!

Henley V SHOC - The sand baggers to win comfortably.

Ovingham V St Pauls - St pauls are a good team that are well coached and well drilled. Will keep on there winning ways.

Houghton V Adel. Uni - Would expect them to bounce back well after the loss to St Pauls and give Uni a touch up.

Nth Pines V Athelstone - Self belief something that hopefully we have gained from the SHOC game.

Angle Vale V Flinders Uni - Flinders to get the points in a close one.

all the best to all teams on the weekend.

Go the REDBACKS

The Paralowie bloke would not be the only player. We have a very talented bloke as our runner waiting for this rule to be looked at.
