Sturt obviously played very well, can someone let us know what was the condition of the oval like and how much rain fell during the game, remember last year north belted Centrals in the wet and on a heavy track by a huge margin.

Oval conditions looked good
There was a heavy shower just b4 the game started.
I spent $5 and sat in the stand today

Ironic that CD got smashed, and numbers 21+ 28 guernseys for CD didnt finish the game....

ST would have beaten any SANFL club the way they used the ball today

But dont write off the Bullys
I recall seeing a game at Adelaide Oval not so long ago when GL annihilated CD early in the season
CD won the flag that year

Pure Bliss!

4500 people at Unley. Oval in pretty good nick, and only a brief shower in the third. Scores pretty level at 1/4, but the Blues kicked 7 goals in the second and didn't concede a point! Dogs lost two key players to match ending injuries early and were left with only ruck rotations for the rest of the game. Blues took full advantage of this rotating the midfield frequently.

Sturt's ruck dominated and midfielders galore took advantage.

Agree with other posters, half back line including Reilly, Fittock, Coad and McGlone dominated and frustrated Dogs. Chambers was a key focus but as you can see another 5 players kicked two each. ON numerous occasions Fittock out-lept and out-timed taller opponents to turn the ball over.

Best for Sturt were hard to separate but Reilly, Bode, Sheedy, Crane, Kurtze and Martin played well.

Dogs well served by defence who didn't stop trying all day. How Gowans didn't get reported for punching Nick Smith in the nose with the umpire looking straight at the, God only knows... familiar story? :?

With Thurstons and McLeay to come into consideration later in the season, things are looking good for the Blues. Still a long way to go however.

Great win though!! :D

He was solid but not BOG. Got lots of the ball but his kicking let him down on several occasions IMO. Same with Martin.

BOG was out of Sheedy, Coad, Bode and Cubillo but really hard to pick. Fittock and Wark also had excellent games. Maybe Sheedy with his 2 running goals was BOG...Rolls Royce...

I thought Central were smashed in the ruck contests and Mackenzie looked like he was digesting his KFC bucket lunch when he came on after half time. Griffen had his moments but I was surprised how many times he was beaten by Kurtze at stoppages. Schell being moved into the backline was a very defensive move and pleasing from an opposition supporter's perspective. From that time on there was no action up forward for the visitors. The Gowans were not sighted except for the obligatory dummy spit and "I'm gonna tell my mummy on you umpire" moment although I think J. Gowans went off in the first half with a leg injury of some sort. A pity, as I was looking forward to them having a bitch slap with each other again in the 2nd half. Loved Reilly's fair hit on ?? causing the claret to flow from ??'s forehead (sorry too much blood to recognise him). Then Dutschke got hit solidly and looked worse for wear. That was one of the most pleasing aspects of this game - not only were the skills great (who said they are worse this season??) but we smashed them physically (literally).

As for the ground condition it was quite good after the game when we walked across it. A 20m x 10m muddy patch in the centre as would be expected at this time of year, but certainly no bog. The rest of the surface was solid if not not a little slippery. A bit of hail fell immediately before the start of the match but apart from that there was only one short shower during the game.

That's the worst effort I have seen from a Centrals team in a decade. On more than one occasion Sturt players took marks just outside 50 and just stabbed it 30m up the ground to a player completely unattended, with the result an easy goal. I can't remember seeing that vs Centrals in recent history. It was also the quietest mob of Centrals suppoerters on record...not one U DOGS heard the entire day....pure bliss...That said, 4700+ was an excellent crowd given the conditions

By all accounts Chambers was narrowly beaten again today, with 8pts the final margin.

p.s. didn't see what happened but someone got booked in the second half. A Gowans was involved...did anyone see it?

In that case I wouldn't be surprised if he DID get reported. The incident I saw (and referred to in my last post) also invloved Smith...and the book definately came out.

Funny really, at half time in the crowd we were discussing which Sturt player was most likely to be the first to get thumped behind the play by Gowans at the restart (cos we know they are both such sore losers)

Im pretty sure it was one of Smith or Sheedy that got reported because Centrals ended up getting a 25m penalty after the incident.
