Talk on any country footy league or club from the SA Country area

Spot on OC. 6 goals down at 3/4 time and we were up against it. Inspiring stuff from the boys.
A grade another thriller with the Dees home by a goal and a half. Tough slog that one too.
Other winners were Mallees in U 14 and again in B grade.

Might be an interesting week at the tribunal. Anyone know how many players were reported in the A's? Did Basscombe get reported for his effort in the U17's? Umpire saw the whole thing reckon he deserves to miss the GF for it.

Yellow card only for basco, so no report methinks. No reports in the A's either. A bit of biffo just added to the contest.
Now that the alchohol has dissolved out of my system, maybe I can make a sensible comment about yesterdays proceedings.
The Under 17 game was an excellent contest with Rangers looking assured of victory at 3/4 time. Hot conditions took it's toll on the Ranger prime movers and Waybacks kicked 7 last qtr goals to snatch an unlikely victory. Great game played in a competitive spirit. Excellent advertisement for our great game.
The A grade was a carbon copy of the 2004 prelim final also against MP. Mallees looked like running away with the contest a number of times but didn't have the legs to finish the dees off. Last qtr and a half saw the cream rise to the top, with Minya, Horgs, Dunc, Gregs, Hyphen, TC, Dom and the machiavellian like Dalton having an impact. For the second year running Dan Harders has added a mail medallist to his belt.
Really loved Umpire Baldocks sense of theatre with his holding the ball decision on boris in the last qtr. Like the mellee, it added to the contest.

Port Lincoln Football had a great days football yesterday. It had everything.
The senior colts game was inspiring. The MR coach would look back and know that he acted inapproapriatly after the game. Why did he rest those players at 3/4 time?
Playing unfit players killed Tasmans in the reserves and their lack of preperation has convinced me that my opinions about their coach is right.
Finally the league games was briliant. Hawes had them on the job. The finals pressure and the brawls were what a prelim in all about. Playing for your life.
Did anyone see Wanganeens king hit in the big brawl? It was one of the more cowardly acts I have ever seen. Hitting a guy in the back of the head without notice.
Moving on won't this week be great. Lets get the banter going early.

Steiger, BTB, do you guys have a standing bet on the footy? If so, does it double for a GF?
PM, not sure where you got your info but was 1 report in the A's. I'm not saying anymore on the subject though as it hasn't gone to the tribunal yet, all wil come out in the wash!

!

Have the regulation schooner and now 1 down after U17's on Sat.
Great match wasn't it. For all the talk of the umpires, and there were several mind boggling decisions, you basically have to run with the tide or if it's running against you, use your brains and work it through. Thought we just played dumb footy in defence in the last 10 minutes and as good as Waybacks were in that last 1/4, we were dumb arses.
Healthy rivalry between the two clubs and particularly in this grade where alot on both sides are good mates of each other. Corey Grove was excellent and stood up to become a matchwinner - too good for Glen and Dyllan. The interaction between coaches and leadership groups in the changerooms after was good and bore out the respect each has for the other.
Raw emotion is overpowering at times and while there were tears of joy in the Wayback camp there was the other sort in ours.

Grub - re you losing some respect for me after my comment re MPFC.
Why shy away from the fact that their reputation a lot of the time preceeds them?
I wholeheartedly agree that each person should be judged by who they are.
Lairizing definitely can be a good part of the game, but a send off? What would their reaction have been had the oppostion been so bloody immature?
They would have whinged.

Fair call.
I just saw it a bit too much last year first hand. And that's when they were getting a pretty fair run on the field from what I saw.
But hey, it's the GF that PLFL will look forward too anyway. Wishing I was there to be honest. Got shivers when I was told Sat arvo that the Dees are there for the 4th time in a row...

selection should be interesting at both clubs.... GF specialist Troy Smiths name will be thrown around on the selection table, could Ackland play?
any injuries from the weekend for the Dees btb? Will the U/17 lads put thier hand up for As?
We may not here a lot from wcp and btb this week....... they always go quiet on GF week.

Pretty busy this week, so postings might be a bit light grub. No real injury concerns from Saturday, except for a couple of sore heads. My mail is the Ackland WILL play this week. If he does, do Rangers go tall and play Charman???
From a demon point of view, would be very surprised if any real changes from the Prelim side. Our 17's have a realistic chance so the young guns will play there, and it is unlikely that we would ask them to play 2 GF's in one day.
The ruck work of JCS in the last qtr adds a bit of interest to this weeks rucking duels. Will Waybacks also go very tall?

Not much to say Grub - Ramblers too good. Blew us away in the first quarter, 8 goals to zip. Tumby did not kick their first goal until the 15 minute mark of the 2nd quarter. David Butler decided enough was enough and created some spirit - after a mellee that sent George Pedler off with blood rule, Tumby reacted with some much needed spirit and kicked 6 of the next 7 goals in the match, but were simply not good enough. Joel Fitzgerald won the BOG medal, was outstanding all day. (Burger kicked 115 goals last year from full forward, and now roams around on a forward flank with the odd run on the ball!!) Simon and George Pedler showed why they are state country players and Corey Fitzgerald is another unheralded star that they have within their ranks. Tumby Bay best served by the big fella Coady, David Butler was hard all day - class player, Jay Shannon, Johnny Hunt, and Tuna did the job on Ruley, (Kept him to 4 from 19). The reality is - Given all things are equal, Tumby Bay are a 5-6 goal better side than any other currently in the GFFL, and then you have Ramblers ... on finals form they are a 10 goal better side than Tumby = any side set to challenge them has a lot of work to do. Have so far only heard of other sides losing players, Tumby included, but we should be strengthed by the likely return of MC from Sturt??, plus some others that have moved to town.

Burger had a massive game, controlled the half forward line and was always a good avenue to goal.... class act.. continually presented himself.

As a hypethetical how would the ladder be based on performances this year if the two leagues were combined this year eg... who would beat who... whos a better team than who....would the ladder look like this.... (say each team with a full list)

Ramblers
Marble Range
Waybacks
Mallee Park
Tumby Bay
Tasmans
Lincoln South
Lock
Eyre United
United Yeelana
Cougers
Bostons

not sure where placings 6 - 10 would finish any thoughts??? how would ramblers measure up against MR, MP ect...
