Have talked to one of the guys there lastnight, and he told me the side was something like this (maybe someone who's actually playing could fix it up a bit).

B: M. Stansborough (C) C. Shee D. Ebert
HB: P. Richards S. Smith M. Krieg
C: A. Kirwan M. Bartemucci T. Keasler
HF: S. Friend M. Clayton B. Pearce
F: J. Gallagher B. Gorden M. Cooper

R: J. Jacques P. Magarey R. McGahey (VC)
B: Nicholson M. Gardner +1 or 2 other blokes (not sure if its a 21 or 22 man team)

The U23 players are; Kirwan, Gardner, Friend, Smith, not sure on ages of other guys so dont know the other 2.

Apparently there were a few no shows and suspect injuries during the week, and the HFL said they were serious about suspending player. Apparently a few young Blackwood guys were no shows, Eckerman and De Vries form Bridgy said they got injured on Wednesday training plus I'm sure theres plenty more so there could be a few good players not playing in the next 2 weeks.

I can't believe you'd get suspended if you attend HFL training and got injured !!

I know the HFL folk read this forum - perhaps someone can clarify exactly who is in the team, and who will be ineligible to play next weekend.

Barossa look very tall with big bodies, which could make it difficult with wet weather. The Hills look to have alot of pace across all lines.

Nicholson is Kersbrook's Ruckman! I ask why not get Williams (Mt Barker who has supported this in past) or Wyld (hahndorf) in instead.
Think Roboerts and Bawden didnt go out, and Nicholas pulled out!
Smith is Onkas ruckman, ex Port maggies reserves player, seen him last year and is very good. Been best alot this year for Onkas i heard.

Do some back reading Silky. Nicholson from Kersbrook got a late call up from Roger cos the Central blokes WON'T play! No point using Matthew Cooper as your 2nd Ruckman. ;) Jacques from TV will lead the Rucks and the ex Magpie should do well.

Can only guess the other ruckmen in Div 1 weren't asked - not in Owen's selection list and noone probably bothered asking the teams coaches. Looks a pretty good team especially if wet, and good to see quite few boys who have nothing to prove playing - Owen would have to be happy with the number of "name players" hope no div 1 players missed out for all the div 2 players or if that is how it is menat to be, then so be it>

I'm pretty certain they didn't ask big Robbie in regards to ruckmen. Is a great competitor, in the best most weeks for us and is a big strong body. Not saying he's the best in the leauge but he's a great player regardless and give us first use a lot.

pretty scary looking also... @-)

I cant see what the complaining about having div2 players in the team it is the Hills Football League team not the Hills Central team these players are good enough to make it so why should yhey stand aside for the div 1 players. There could of easily been another 2 in the team if Slattery and P James were not injured. As for Rob Nicholson he is a very fine tap ruckman with him and Jaques being the best in div2 by along way,

It's not a matter of complaining I don't think but it seems that they just pick the usual favourites without to much consultation.

I'm really not phased either way but just wonder how deep the research goes.

Did any of the Central div coaches put their hand up to coach??

It appears not..if they didnt..stiff biccies..

I think some of u central guys r prerennial wingers.. and there will be more of u next week when the HFL suspends players for not being available this weekend.(they will have no choice, otherwise were back to the fiasco we had last year when noone from central div was prepared to play!)

i think it is interesting having a div 2 coach and players in the side! Div 2 is a much slower brand of footy than div 1! sure they have some skillful players but in a game where the pace increases two fold players used to the slower game are shown up dramatically... Two years ago out at lobethal james, bingos and pearce were made to look very average in the faster game and their lack of accountability due to the lack of competition in div 2 stood out like dogs balls! Surely the HFL has to look at picking the best side rather than the best 21 players in the comp like they do year in year out... again this year there are at least 10 midfielders... would like to see positional players picked... think that is the barossa's strength and if they have done it again this year, they should take it out! Its not the tallest or fastest back six ive seen with probably only richards playing in his usual position out of the back six.

Don't slag blokes who played association footy 2 years ago, cos Central guys wouldn't play. Bingos and Nathan Pearce (Brad Pearce is the Medalist) were called up at the last minute with a Mt.Lofty B grader just so the Hills could get a side on the park. Paul James played a heap of SANFL league footy and so has played at a lot better standard than Hills Div 1! Special One it appears the Central clubs aren't supporting rep footy, as indicated by Tanka's previous post of all the Hills Central Ruckman not making themselves available and THAT is why Rob Nicholson from Kersbrook is playing tommorow. As for selecting a bloke from Div 2 to coach the rep side, it's not everyday an AFL legend puts his hand up to coach and if that doesn't attract people to play nothing will! Poor old Collo saw all the Div 1 blokes first hand last year, yet did he get close to submitting the strongest HFL side against Barossa? Not even close! So perhaps before you start sledging the players, selectors and coaches of the association sides, look at the clubs and players that don't make themselves available. I hope Roger and his troops can win it for the HFL and show why it is the strongest Country comp in S.A.
