Australian player issue

Postby smac » Thu Jun 04, 2009 9:43 pm

Apparently James Sutherland is holding a media conference right about now to outline an "Australian player related issue". Will be interesting to find out what it is!

Andrew Symonds has been dumped from the Australia Twenty20 squad

June 04, 2009 .Australian all-rounder Andrew Symonds is being sent home from the World Twenty20 cricket tournament in England for breaking a number of team rules related to alcohol and other issues.

Symonds was a notable absentee at Australia's training session on Thursday before the Twenty20 World Cup.

The 33-year-old has a long list of disciplinary stuff-ups and if he is in trouble again, CA would appear to have little option but to tear up his contract.

Roy #-o

I remember hearing an interview with Hayden at the start of the year and you could tell between the lines that Roy's team-mates were fed up with him and his inability to make the sacrifices he needed to make.

Goodbye and good riddance. Australia will be better with him off the radar, and I actually hope that Queensland also get rid of him. Some things are just not worth ptting up with regardless of how good someone is.

Some people never get the chance to represent their country. Symonds not only got that chance, but got many, many chances after messing up repeatedly. He even played test cricket when he perhaps wasn't the best test player available.

It is disappointing as a fan of australian cricket that this bloke has the talent but not the mental application to play for our country. He certainly deserves no more chances.

CA have asked for permision to pick another player, you have to think it will be Callum Ferguson or Brad Hodge. Hopefully it is Cal

Ferguson is not really a 20/20 player at the moment, has struggled domestically in that form of the game and has not been given the chance to prove himself at the top level because of that. Personally i hope it stays like that. Pick the best player for the format and that is probably Brad Hodge.

That is if we get permission.

They will get permission, The selectors said the last spot was out of Dave Hussey and Callum Ferguson and it was a very hard decision

You mean Hodge?

David Hussey is already in the squad.. If we are fair dinkum about winning this tournament it should be Hodge that's selected.

Geez James Sutherland looked like he was trying not to cry in that announcement, he was really choking on his words. As for Andrew Symonds, has never been the same since the Singh incident got down played so much, think that really had an affect on him. I am just glad I got to witness him play some outstanding innings and pull off some of the most remarkable catches and run outs that you could see.

It's a pity a person with so much talent has fallen in such a manner
