World of Warcraft

Postby Wedgie » Tue Jun 02, 2009 8:39 pm

Asked it before but will ask it again in case someone has since joined.
My son and I both have accounts and play it just about every day.
Both got 2 level 80s each (hunter and death knight).
Just got my Leatherworking up to 443 and am working on getting better gear as Im now doing heroic dungeons.
Mainly play on the Cenarion Circle but do have a couple of horde characters in Caelestraesz and a couple of low levels on a PvP server.
Anyone else a WOWer?

Used to be.
Had to give it up. Waaaaay too addictive.
I only had a level 45 druid when I quit.
Glad I got out early. ;)

I did a trial for 5 days, then got bored of it. I couldnt get past level 15 or something, so I just uninstalled it.

Not a fan of paying ongoing fee's either.

Nah sorry I never tried it...why pay £10 per month when I can play others for free :?

So it's currently Perfect World for me...got chars on two servers in case one goes offline I can still play...best I got so far is a level 50 cleric...about to start building the crafting skills. Actually had someone ask me if I was from Adelaide a few weeks ago on one server cos the char had Norwood in the name...apparently she is and her mate is a Legs supporter :D

Well I can't really compare it as I've never tried WoW but I use this site to look at different MMORPG's...the 'game list' page shows the games by type, price/free, user ratings etc and you can see reviews etc.

http://www.mmorpg.com/index.cfm?bhcp=1

Started out about 3 years ago playing Guild wars...you buy the disc and the online play is free but that got swamped with east European players and all they did was try to scam people...real pain so tried a couple of others...Last Chaos (crap lots of kids trying to steal drops) and Rappelz (not bad but very laggy and crowded).

Then tried Perfect World which is my favourite so far...players of all ages and abilities and most are very helpful if you need a hand. They have a seperate sever for those into player versus player and on the other servers you can only kill other players if you both have that option 'on'. Like all these games there are ways to try and get you to pay money with an ingame shop where you can buy extra goodies like fancy armour etc and there is a fair bit of grinding to level up and get your crafting skills etc but again I think all games have that. Pretty standard choice of chars I think too...warriors, clerics, archers, wizzards etc and all look humanish and of course as usual the female chars look like Barbie with a boob job  but you can change a lot of features when you start.

http://pwi.perfectworld.com/info

Wedgie is probably the best one to give a review of WoW to try and compare :)

JAS

The WOW episode was probably my fav too but I'm a geek.

For those who have played WOW but havent played it since The Wrath of the Lich king expansion pack came out you'll be amazed how good it now is.
Must admit I got bored with it last year but have been continuously hooked since installing the Expansion.
I see one magazine gave it their game of the year despite being an expansion pack only.

Be interesting to see what lies in the future as Ive heard Blizzard might make a completely new game from scratch which wouldnt suprise me as there's only so many expansion packs you can make for 1 game.

Im really loking forward to Starcraft 2 due out later this year.
Ironically I never got into Warcraft but loved the original Starcraft at the time.

I had the pleasure of being wined and dined and flown over to Hong Kong last September by EA Sports but would much rather have spent time with Blizzard!
Beggars cant be choosers though. ;)

The original? Bloody oath - that was like, over 10 years ago... but it was a great game back then - especially being able to play online.
I love 'Food and Stuff'. It's where I buy all of my food. And most of my stuff.
