Association training last night was really good! Slippery conditions at Strathalbyn and the boys were very clean and skilled in them. With 24 players out there last night and i believe 5-6 phone calls saying they will be attending Thursday it looks as if for once we will actually have to cut some players to make the final side. That can only be a good thing for Saturdays trip to Mypolonga.

What do clubs get up to when the boys have a week off? Nights off training or head out for a bite to eat together? Business as usual?

Who's coaching this year BJ? Who will get the job on T.Rigney & Braidwood? Both will play up FWD i'd imagine.

Dale Ellis was selected to try out for the side but is not avaliable to play as both him and Luke had planned before the season had even started that they would be going back to Sydney for the weekends we get off to see family it has nothing at all to do with match fees and if he was avaliable he would never ask or expect payment. As BJ will tell you it is a honour to represent your league, to put on a forum that someone is not playing due to match fees is stupid!!!!

i hope the GSFL is in the throws of organising interleague games where it's the best 22 players and not an under age team ???

i know there's always discussions about bloke not interested in playing ... cause of what ever piss weak reason they give ....
ie ...
.
1) not getting paid
2) not interested ... etc etc blah blah blah ...

I'm sure if you picked the best 22 possible you'll get a pretty strong team of blokes that are keen to play! there's no point forcing blokes to play 'cause they rn't worth having in the team!

bring back the lovelock shield! (I must be getting old!!) :) :) ahahaahahah

you know you are getting old (i like to use the term 'mature') when you say "I remember when ...... "

We keep talking about who's in and who's out and there are a heap of names been thrown around. The fact is a lot of guys aren't interested! The other point is, we are mentioning names like Griffen, Thomas and Ewer. I am pretty sure they are all over 25 and there is a limit how many we can have.

Anyway the U15's are ready to go. Here is the line up

Brodie Matherson (LC), Lachlan Clegget (LC), Chris Barnes (GPE)
Patrick Acton (MC), Darcy Hourigan (ST), Mitchell McRostie (VH)
Scott Olgivie (MYP) Rhyce Deacon (GPE), Tyson Young (EB)
Joel Addis (W), Dylan Stanton-Gordge (MC), Alex Clegget (LC)
Kurt Linder (VH), Reil Colwell (W), Harrison Gabrielson (MYP)

Ruck

Brock Godwin-Knott (GPE)
Sam Taggart (EB)
Sam Tregenza (MYP)

Int

Bradley Clarke (MYP)
Jack Scudds (MC)
Sean Davis (MC)
Satish Lawson (GPE)

Captain is Sam Tregenza with Joel Addis as the vice. Goolwa / Port Elliot, Myponga and Mount Compass have the largest representation with 4 players while Yankalilla and McLaren are the 2 clubs that have no one involved.

BJ,
Just for interest sake how do you see Bazz as coach of an association side against your week to week coach?

What I am interested about do you see him structure lads he knows inside out any diffrent than on any Sat ie does he give Haskett a diffrent role than he would normally or someone like Burdett that he sees playing a couple of times a year a diffrent role as he feels he could play?

Just interested and good luck for the w/end.

Shoe Boy,

The opportunity to have Baz as coach for this week is great. I think Baz would agree with you in 1 week theres nothing much he can really do. Its more of a manager role, making sure the players get familiar with each other, get comfortable in the surroundings so on the Saturday we can all perform to a level good enough to get the win. Baz has done this many times so hes very comfortable in what hes doing and the message hes trying to get across. With Simon Dennis assisting him im excited to get to have some chats with him regarding football!

Brads a utility so at any stage of the game even for us (Willunga or GSFL) he could play Forward, Midfield or Back. The kids a freak and its definitely a luxury to have someone like him playing. I believe he wont be playing a key position first up this weekend, if i were Barry i would play him somewhere like the wing where he could get himself a mismatch but if needed he could stand a key post.

A player like Matt Hodge, who carves up in the midfield got BOG for us last year running around at CHF. Flexibility is the key to these games and having a plan B if plan A doesnt work. Hopefully we can get the right mix of players.
