The leadership ofMcKenzie and Cicca was vital to the win. The state game break came at just the right time for us as it allowed us to regroup after some poor efforts. Also, we hadn't had a bye yet and after a tough pre-season needed to rest some tired and sore players.
Still need a fit Salter or Passador up forward and a fit Powell on the ball. Can see R. Fiacchi staking a claim as well as he is a very versatile defender.
Must keep the foot to the floor though and beat Norwood (who flogged us at home last year) to continue momentum and keep in touch with top 3.
Banner's first up effort was good and Petrenko added pace and energy (even though he seemed to be trying too hard and made some errors). Our on-ballers stood up and contributed well in the vital last quarter.
Both sides made lots of errors and will only improve. Centrals were due for a loss and it won't do them any harm.

Well done wigggles you won it because of the last 5 minutes of the last quarter with big Macgregor.

Can anyone tell me if Treeby was cited for his forearm/elbow hit on Sladey's nose ????

From what I saw on the telly, I thought Treeby tried to initiate contact with Slade as Slade was coming in to tackle him, but contact was made with the upper-bicep, side of the shoulder.

Me too.

But well done to the Eagles. They played hard tough footy and forced us into error. something for us to work on. Am hopibg we can bounce back next week and avoid a mid-season slump.
We used to be good :-(

Did not see that alleged incident. I did however see slade belt cicca's head with a swinging forearm/elbow in the first quarter, sending him from the field!!.

After seeing the replay, my views

The trend started from the first bounce
Cinderellalello got the first kick and Petrenko took the first mark
That must have had Fuller smiling, supporters frothing, and SANFL the richer for having these two talented footballers in this game

Noticed that some EG posters had complained about having too many class players unavailable in the WA game, well they were quite right
Mckenzie is the heart beat of the team
Pet + Cico make a huge diff to the team
Banner looks a decent type of player as well
Shirley/Passador/Salter to come back as well [hmmmmmnnnnn]

The game was umpired OK
EG were too tenacious on the day
CD tried hard, but just slightly off thier game, particularly disposals inside 50
Nothing in the game
EG were in front when the siren went and thats all that counts

EG now beaten CD and almost won at Elizabeth
So are in the flag mix 2009

CD play well in Mays infintely better in Septembers, and almost invincible in Octobers

FOOTNOTE
Great to see Justin Ciccolella heeeeeeeeez baaaaaaaaaaaaaack and played well

Great game by both Cicca and Macca - we clearly missed both of these guys in recent weeks. Solid game from Banner on debut. With Powell, Passador, Salter & Shirley to come back in promising future ahead. We may miss Broadbent as he is surely going to be called up by the powder puffs soon. All in all a solid efort and any win against Central is a good win the fact it was their first loss of season made it even better. If we can narrow the gap between our best and our worst I believe we can challenge in 2009

Eagles, again dont let's get ahead of ourselves. Good win but if we were ever going to beat Centrals it was going to be last week. They had a couple of weeks off, won a heap in a row, few injuries so the timing was good for us to get several of our key players back. Selection table improved for sure, I think we have weeded out the players that belong in the league team albeit there are still a couple of spots up for grabs.
It was great to see some of the hard contests, Cica got nailed early and a few dogs got nailed as well...it was just good hard stuff that these guys thrive on without anything too serious resulting.
