You have got to be joking, they scraped in against fourth placed Souths in the first semi.......

Disagree WCP. Not much between 2nd, 3rd & 4th although PM's comment about "should go all the way" is over the top. Can maybe but not should. All three sides have struggled to beat MP and things will have to go the right way for wither W or MR to knock them off. Either CAN win Sat and in the GF. We like our chances and so do they - that's footy.

I can understand their point of view and wanting to play with their mates, however I would enjoy seeing them play in high pressure senior final. I reckon Keasty was really good last week against the MR and was looking forward to seeing him against MP. What if the u17's game is a blow out by half time?? they might rue their decision to not play both games. Good luck to them.
Hopefully it is 3 from 3 for the Demons tomorrow.

Steigs, my comments were related to the fact MP are unbeaten (apart from the 19 on the field day). To suggest they should go all the way is definitely over the top!!

Sounds like Waybacks are having similar problems to MR in the past with 17's playing senior finals. Grove & Keast would now be considered important players to the League side, what's going to happen if the League go out this week and the 17's get through and go on to win the flag. Wayback supporters will be enjoying the 17's flag that may have cost the League side a flag or at least a crack at it. League always comes first, all other grades exist to support that grade and ensure the highest honour for the club can be achieved, ie an A grade premiership.

F!#ing oath, WCP.
What a joke! I have heard good reports about those youngsters stepping up to A grade and to put an 'iffy' 17's flag chance ahead of the A grade is poor.
DH should have the final say, NOT parents.
Footy's funny. I know from last year's experience, there were 2 young guys out on the field that I wouldn't have replaced with anyone! And they walked away with a flag that NEVER looked like ours during the year.

mr panther, I never joke about serious issues such as this. The top 4 sides in the 17's boast some exceptional players, and all sides have pushed Mallees as certain times. The 1st semi final was a cracker of a game witgh the dees playing excellent footy early, and the young eagles clawing their way back into the contest. Both MR and W believe that they can match the peckers, and the last time we met them, they defeated us by 1 point at the death. For an esteemed reserves member of this forum that is a highly uneducated comment.
j_q, the parents and families untimately have the final say as to if the kid plays A grade. They are Under 17 remember, so parental consent is vital. It is the clubs decision to pick them if they are available. If the A's win and 17's get knocked out, will they put their hand up the following week. They may cost themselves a place in an A Grade premiership, who knows?

Everything aside, I can't fathom why two quality kids would put an 11.30am U/17 game ahead of the opportunity to play at 2.30 in front of a bigger crowd in a better game. Hasn't Keasty played some footy in Adelaide this year? Perhaps it's the MP factor, or they think the A's are shagged.......

Look at Jay Shannon, having a crack against the men

Definately think the MP factor has something to do with it. Young Grove copped a whack in the head last week, and was a bit reluctant to come back on so I am sure the guys would feel more at ease against a young MR under 17 team. Is dissapointing, but we can't do anything really. My main problem is that has the decision been made in the best interest of the kids or the parents and the coach? If it's the kids then I have no problem.

After CD's abusive and racist outburst at a league official during the Wayne Evans Shield, the man has no credibility and you can take anything he says as not worth a pinch of the proverbial.

no need for that JQ.... youve lost a bit of respect from me after that comment..... Craigy is one of the many characters at Peckerland who regularly umpires the juniors. His 4 goals 3 behinds in the Bs last week were all class and his send off to Corey Fielder in the coaches box when he had kicked his third was priceless and generally most of the crowd liked a bit of lairizing in the Bs...thats what we go to the footy for....a laugh in the Bs before the serious stuff...... Judge each person for who they are....

Under17's match, rangers Vs dees

Postby OldCooper » Sat Sep 16, 2006 7:11 pm

Today I saw one of the best under 17s matches I’ve ever seen! Great, great footy, very hard and tough and some good little scruffs throughout the match...just what I like to see!
Maybe the Agrades more important to the club and everyone involved around the club, but today I witnessed several players cry tears of joy after the final siren sounded...not only from the players themselves but from the spectators also!...And I once agreed with the Agrades more important statement but after today I realize that if your a club team then every grade counts NOT just the senior grade!!!
