YESSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Peter Carey (player)
Carey, a goliath in stature and of the South Australian game, played an Australian record 448 matches for Glenelg.

He was judged best on ground for a six-goal performance in the Tigers' 1973 premiership and skippered the side to back-to-back triumphs in 1985 and 1986
.

They forgot to mention three time Best and fairest, two time All Australian, and about a dozen state games.

Ebert and Robran for a start.

I'm not trying to take anything away from Carey, but i'm just saying he's not the most "deserving" inductee ever.

Sorry Dutchy there have been better players (aka more deserving) especially those in the intial inductions. From an SA point of view Ebert, Robran etc but since 2001 his ommission has been galring indictment on the authenticity of the Hall of Fame as a Hall of Fame

My first reaction is that Bicks is not quite at HOF level either but, when you look at his record, he's a 2 time premiership captain, 7 state games, 272 games which is similar to these guys:

Graham Arthur (Hawthorn) Hawthorn’s first premiership captain. Playing career: 1955-1968. Games: 232 Goals: 201
Gavin Brown (Collingwood) Playing career: 1987-2000 Games: 254 Goals: 195
Lou Richards (Collingwood) Playing career: 1941-1955 Games: 250 Goals: 423

Just picked out 3 but you could add Dean Kemp. Why should any of those guys be in if Bicks shouldn't? How many players can match his records? Should 300+ games be the criteria?

So well done Bicks regardless =D> Also big congratulations to Peter Carey!!!!

Which shows the fatal flaw in the authenticity of the Hall of fame. How are those blokes in when players such as Bagshaw 364 games seven premierships a bevy of state games Davies - 300 plus games 2 Flags state games and McIntosh to name but a few aren't???

Hey I'll concede the VFL/AFL competition is better than the SANFL back then but not by that much to exclude those blokes.

Agree on McIntosh, Davies & Bagshaw and there's more we could come up with

Don't get me wrong, I have a pet hate of the snubbing of SANFL greats in the AFL HOF as well. They seem to have to pull teeth to get recognised while modern day AFL players seem to cruise in.

I have most issue with Dean Kemp, as good a player as he was.

Tom Leahy and Ian McKay for a start.
Leahy was argueably the best ruckman in the country prior to WW2 and McKay was (again argueably) the best full back in the country in the 40's and 50's.

And congrats to Super a more than worthy inductee.

When I first started watching SA football I remember seeing Carey and underestimating him. Then as I got older and got to suss out this weird game you play over here (I was brought up on League you see), I slowly began to be more aware of just how important he was to Glenelg and marveled at his capactiy to shoulder the load for his team and to haul down telling marks at just the right time. This was at a time when there were some fine ruckmen in SA football. Well done Super.

regards,

3 BnFs

Gavin Brown (Collingwood) Playing career: 1987-2000 Games: 254 Goals: 195

3 BnFs + 2 AAs

Lou Richards (Collingwood) Playing career: 1941-1955 Games: 250 Goals: 423

Media Career helped him out

Just picked out 3 but you could add Dean Kemp.

1 BnF + 1 AA

Why should any of those guys be in if Bicks shouldn't? How many players can match his records?

No BnF, nowhere near AA selection. At no stage would Bickley have been in the top 50 players in the AFL. Sure, 2x Premiership Captain...great achievement. HOF worthy? Not even close. If you are putting Bickley into the HOF then there should be about 100 players from the last few years getting a gig.

I look forward to 2x Premiership player, All Australian, Rising Star, Norm Smith Medal winning Byron Pickett being added in a couple of years time.
