I may be new to this forum but i have been around and watched many years in the BLG so i no a few players.

I was quite interested in the ruckman debate... a few poeople have suggested young richie rosewell... wasn't he an under 17 last year... i would have thought there are better ruckman that are under 23 that would dominate rosewell...

I remember a few games last year when Luke Howard would have caught the selectors eyes... just wondering what people think of him... and i noticed tanunda now have two priors... just wondering whether its andrews younger bro... heard he goes alright as well...

yeah richie was an under 17 at south last year now at willaston i would say at this stage in richies development that howard is definitely in front of him, i wasnt aware that howard was under 23 thats why i picked rosewell, however when willaston played tanunda he beat wells and didnt do too badly against cragg-sappsford. still very raw but huge potential
yeah it is a younger brother goes very well

ok fairo... made the move cos of family reasons or club reasons... well im pretty sure howard is under 23 don't quote me tho... don't no enough about him... but if he was you'd have to think he'd be in with a shot as one of the ruckman??? read that howard was given best against angaston... might be to his advantage with the association game pretty close...
so andrew is trying to get a family affair going...

believe there was 2 reaasons, 1.wanted to play with his brother and willaston needed a ruckman 2.dont think the south coach rated him and he would be rotting in the 2s at south now with lutze and kennedy on their list

ok fairo... well its gwd to see some of last years under 17's playing well...
have lutze and kennedy done much this year???

Lutze has been quite good from all reports. Can't say the same for Kennedy however.

Set the record straight

Postby Underbelly » Wed May 20, 2009 11:19 pm

I am new to this computer business but after a recent family gathering i have seen it fit to set the record straight with a few issues that have been raised in this so called forum.
I talk of the article that was published in the barracker last weekend regarding a member of my extended family not being cleared to play with Gawler Centrals. Lets just say from the outset, if the player in question wanted to get a clearance he would of took the necessary steps to do so. He has never looked at putting one in let alone has never come close to putting pen to paper. The family connection this player has with the Willaston football club makes him a "Donnybrook for life" and he is the first to admit that. There alot of people out there who need to look where they get there mail from because from where i am standing it's the furthest from the truth.
Sure; he has accepted a coaching role with the Donnybrooks cross town rivals; but those parting words his Uncle said to him still ring true: "you sleep with dogs and you will catch fleas". If anyone out there knows who said that quote, will realise that the likelihood of him pulling on the yellow and black jumper anytime soon are very remote. Keeping a careful eye on the midfield rotations on a saturday and the training workload of the team during the week is as far as the connection goes and will ever go.
Having been a Willaston supporter for a number of years now, i am somewhat concerned with where the club is at the moment. Blokes worrying about there pay packets rather than embracing what the club means to so many "loyal" supporters. Gone are the days of past players walking through those clubroom doors after a game feeling "10 feet tall". Now all the players look for is that little envelope with their name on it.
BLG football is now run by politics and hiddden agendas. It used to be the pinnacle of country footy in this state. What happened??? You only have to look at what gets written on this forum; ive been on here for a whole 10 minutes looking through past posts and have already had enough.
People need to realise that sometimes saying things in fun, just to get a bit of a bite sometimes backfires and in this case it has. It has upset a number of members of my extended family and for that reason i hope that not only the Barracker but certain individuals on this forum pull their heads in.
Football to me has always been about the mateship; having played in the 70's and 80's i saw it first hand. I dont want to see the BLG become a feeding ground for so called 'gun' players chasing the elusive $$.

very heartfelt first post, but you obviously have lost your connection with the donnybrooks because from what i know about the willaston is that their players play to win not to be paid.

if they wanted $$ they certainly wouldn't be at one of the poorest clubs in league.

willaston have never had any cash cows the people there bust their chops for every $ they can raise and always will, they stay competitive on the oval with those same ethics.

like many past players you sound like one of the ones who played walked away when your career was over, but have an opinion and no time to help their club.

why not head down to elliot godger and offer up some of your time to your beloved donnies if youre so concerned about their future?

Perhaps Pinch Hitter or daysofourlives could shed some light on the former Central Districts and South Adelaide prodigy.

The 'Adonis' is one of the leagues elite running players, shakes tags, racks up 30+ possessions each week and kicks goals.

Havent heard much about him this season and seems to be flying under the radar. Maybe that is what Seelander is wanting.

Hope Craig Dawe has someone to run with him or he could slice up the Tigers like a xmas cake.

i'd say the tigers would just go head to head they are that good.

us wfc fans are just hoping for some improvement on last years 20 goal pumbling at the hands of the tigers.

Unsure what you are so angry about underbelly. If the person that's helping coach a cross town rival was a true willaston man like yourself he would be helping the Willaston football club out. I also would like to point out we are in the 21st century and to get the so called "Gun" players to your club it sometimes takes a few dollers!!!

I heard this topic on sunday and i agree with Pinch Hitter if your so concerned about the Willaston Club why not offer some of your time to help them out?
Did his extended family get upset when he took to the field in a trial game earlier in the year?
And if he had no intention on playing for Gawler Centrals why make yourself available in a trial game for them, while some poor kid misses out?

Is there particular reasons why Brad Hughes, Kirk Heberle or Under 23's player Richard Rosewell didnt get picked?

just wondering with all the association debate... has anyone heard whats happened with a young lad Peter Davis... i remember reading at the end of last year that he won the best and fairest at GC in the reserves so would have thought be would be pushing for an a'grade spot but i haven't seen his name at all this year in either grade... just wondering if anyone can confirm if he is injured or what cos he is a gwd little player...

and another rumour going around is a few lads are going over to Italy to do a bit of altitude training... anyone no if there is truth behind this rumour and who and which club it involves cos ive heard it was GC lads...

the donnybrooks will give any mallee park boys a home while their over here.. produced some absolute stars of football that club, be interesting to see the stats on how many AFL players they have produced in the past 10 years, would have to be up there.
