Well hasn't taken me very long to come out of retirement, but i need to explain that no one has recently said anything bad about me, and im certainly not offended by "daysofourlives" i know this guy and he is someone i have known for a very long time and respected, he should know this from a speech i made about him a year ago..... if i was going to jump off when people said something bad about me i would of been long gone, im sure you all remember when this blog went for about 2 pages of people sticking the boot in just before the start of the season... as i said in my previous blog I LOVE THAT SHIT, and thrive of it as i know you do to Osama, so please everyone feel free to write what they like i have just decided not to be apart of it. have fun, and see ya on the park!!!!!!!!!!!!

I agree unit, he should be skipper out at Bomberland. An honest local, whom will always give 100%. Given Scud says that a few A graders arent giving it their all on a Saturday afternoon, I find it laughable that Matty Koch is still playing B grade...... but there must be a logical reason. FGH or BenC? I'm sure both of you guys would love Matty on a HBF in the A grade.

I would love nothing more then to play with Kochy week in week out again.

But, despite our results, there is a lot of competition amongst the backmen at HB (particularly the smaller BP/HBF types) and they have been doing very well considering the onslaughts they have had to deal with. These guys have all been giving 100% I can assure you of that.

Unfortunately after playing the first couple in the A's, Kochy has missed out on being selected for the last two games.

But as you point out he has played well in the B Grade the last two weeks which is great, even ventured forward of centre for a bit! Ideally he would be captain but as you know he has missed a lot of football of late because of freak injuries (farm related of course) and at the moment is not a walk up starter for the A Grade. Despite our results, our depth this year is a lot better than last year, especially down back.

Swamp, I have tried my best to get Kochy onto this forum....but he works too bloody hard, the man is a working machine! Perhaps when seeding is finished he will make an appearance ;)

I’m saddened to hear the sudden bad news of the late Scud, as you are aware I have been one of his biggest fans. My thoughts are with his family and friends in this time of distress. :) LOL Duke.

Nobody likes a 20 goal flogging that is true.

It is just funny that you have so much to say about football .... for a person who could never play the game and will never be more than a magnet board carrier.

didnt know u were scuds minder im sure he is capable of responding himself after all hes big enough to look after himself ;)
iv forgotten more about football than u will ever know!!
coming from someone who found the BL&G too hard and goes to the APFL cos he thinks it will be easier and then still struggles there is laughable
perhaps u hamley blokes should spend less time on here and more on the training track and start giving your coach a fair dinkum effort and stop making excuses

Scuds last ever post.......... I take my hat off to all the people on this forum that actually talk football and dont just come on here to bag people. i have never understood "daysofourlives" why you seem to try to come on this forum and talk about this league when you haven't been to a game out here in at least 5 years, but im tipping ever. Your pretty quick to tell us how the BL&G is better than this league and as a premiership player and someone who started playing A grade football in that league when i was 15 i know your right, it is a better league but there is only one reason for that... Money. Tanunda its self probably spends more money than all our clubs put together. Im telling you though Mallala, Balak and Two wells the way they played on the weekend would beat the bottom sides out there and push the 3rd, 4th ranked teams.

As for FGH standing up for me, thats just the guy he is, such a team orientated man. wish we had 21 blokes like him in our A grade. Probably shouldn't questions someones knowledge on football when you dont know them from a bar of soap and say they struggle in this league when you never have seen them play. FGH is a very good footballer.

I will agree that our players need to have more of a red hot dip, a few too many are happy to just rock up and have a kick and then get pissed sat night. im all for getting pissed but between 2:45 and 5 o'clock on a sat afternoon our players need to be 100% committed to winning games of football and not thinking what there going to be doing after the game. I'm not saying all of the players are like this because the majority of the group are excellent but there are a handfull that need to work on that, and it will happen in time as our group get older. Im the second oldest in our team at 25 so there is alot of time for these players to develop. Yes we have been saying this for 3 or 4 years but the facts are that 4 years ago these kids were so young probably too young but with so many of our top line players leaving the club for more money, and retirements etc, it left a hole so big in which we needed to play these young guys. you dont play your best football until your between the age of 24 to 30, so there is a lot of good years ahead for the hamley bridge football club if this group stays together. and on that there is alot of improvement across the league with the quality of kids playing in every club. pretty exciting to be a part of.

On saturdays game, yes we got flogged by 20 goals and no one will ever be happy with a 20 goal flogging, but all teams have days that they want to forget, and when your a top side those games dont stand out so much but when your a bottom side they do, this game will be erased from the memory pretty quickly but our start to the year has been not as bad as our result read. been in every game for three quarters except on sat. i want to congratulate the two wells coach i told him after the game on sat that i was impressed with how he has got that team playing, alot like the bombers in the AFL. this style may not pay off on occassions but its exciting to watch when it does come off. and the thing with the way they play is if it comes off they could beat anyone. like last week against Hummocks.

As this is my last post, i guess i just want to wish everyone luck on the year. im guessing most of the bloggers are players, i enjoy playing against you guys, even though i do cop it a fair bit (but i do ask for it most of the time :) ) but anyone who knows me, knows i have been use to it for a very long time. i love it and thats one of the reasons i play the game, but please come up for a beer after the game.

Signing off the Scud AKA: Brett Burgess

surely the size of the talent pool has something to do with it also. cant just be money

Talent pool, yes, and player retention, but mostly $$$$, spend it wisely and your in the final, don't spend it well and your in the wilderness. Pretty much goes for any footy club in Australia.

Freeling went from cellar dwellers to finallist overnight, that has nothing to do with talent pool, as with B/Districts every team out there spends a bit of cash, theres no denying it, and we do as well, but the volumes are different. Especially the Barossa teams, who have bigger concessions in recruiting i believe.

And it is not neccesary easier to get a kick in this league, there are plenty of quality players running around and if you are expecting a cake walk you'd be wrong, very wrong
Sorry people I only deal in facts!

It just doesn't add up. I'm not suggesting a cover up FGH but we all remember him as a good A-grade player & certainly not a B-grader. You say he started in the A's & then was dropped for the last 2 games?? I find that unbelievable when i noticed some of the guys that are actually getting a game in his place. I know he had some bad injuries & would understand if playing a few reserve games first up was for confidence perhaps but to hear that he was dropped is puzzling.

Moon Unit / FGH, I actually spoke to Matty re why he isn't playing A-grade and he said that he did for the first two games but was really down on confidence and both he and the coach spoke and thought that he should go back to the B-grade and get a couple of games under his belt and some confidence and then he would come straight back up. Unfortunately the A-grade side would love to have 21 guys as committed as Kochy and give 100%

Another MASSIVE round of footy this weekend, here are my early tips:

HWE vs Balaklava: HWE will bounce back all be it without Daniel "The Administrator" Thomas, whom I'm assuming will be away with the SA SANFL State Team in Perth. Fair to say DT has the dream job!!! HWE by 3 goals. (http://www.sanfl.com.au/maccas_cup/on_the_bench/)

Two Wells vs Mallala: This will be an awesome game and Mallala will need to improve a lot from last week if they are to beat TW. TW by 2 points.

Virginia vs United: United will win this match with some key players to come back in, including Sam McArdle whom may still be suffering slightly from shaggers back!

Hamley bye

Pinch, Mackereth has been playing Full Back and looks as if he has been going alright. Pretty solid lad but has been able to keep his opponents quiet. I know Burgess has praised him a couple of times back at after game awards. McGuire, I think missed a game or most of through injury but he has played across the HB line and isn't the most prettiest football but pretty hard at it and has been a handy inclusion, but lets face it they have been seeing a fare bit of it down back. Green, what I have seen is a bit up and down but his ruck work is generally really good. All in all, I think you could say that they have been solid without setting the world on fire.
