Glenelg fans talking up premierships?????

Postby am Bays » Mon May 18, 2009 7:17 am

Just when you think Warren Partland couldn't stretch the truth any further he comes up with this pearler...

"Glenelg fans are talking up premierships...." from this article in tomorrows fish'n'chip wrappings: http://www.news.com.au/adelaidenow/sport/afl/story/0,26547,25497522-21546,00.html#add-comment

Oh Warren whatever your smoking can I have some??? Please provide evidence of where on this forum or Snoutslouts.org Glenelg fans have talked up premierships this year.

Crikey the Dogs are so far in front as premiership favourites $2.00 to $6.50 (Glenelg Sturt) it ain't funny. Glenelg fans are acutely aware of that and we are also aware that we have only played one decent game this year - Friday night, hardly the cause for ordering the screen-printing of T-shirts in October.

However, quantitatively it is good to have the SANFL in the paper and I am appreciative of that, we now just have to work on the quality of the journalism.
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

 This is no diffrerent than the whole last decade where he has written off Centrals. Unfortunately Warren has an ulterior motive when it comes to "his" team. After one impressive performance, i havent heard one Glenelg person even mention finals yet, but obviously Warren knows so many more than me

Mate, from some hard experience, we've all learnt not to talk up premierships unless we are at least 10 goals up in time on in the last of a GF, especially so when we're nowhere near sowing up the double chance this year, haven't worked out how to beat the Dogs (and Eagles) and have such a wonderful conversion ratio in the big one.

Hodgey learned this the hard way in '77.

Anyway, I thought it was really clever to lose to the Dogs by squillions on Anzac Day to put everyone off our scent this year, but now Warren Partland has blown our cover!

It is pretty funny actually i think Warren thinks he plays a role in Centrals success.

He often tips against Centrals in games against South, West and others we should win comfortably. He also rarely rights that Centrals are playing well, it's generally always the same line that there is a lot of improvement in the Dogs left.

I would talk up a Glenelg premiership about as far as I would talk up the calibre of Partland's journalism.

In all fairness to Warren he did say Glenelg fans were talking premierships, he didn't say which club they were associating with premierships.
You'll find supporters of all clubs talking about premierships at some stage or another usually talking about Central.

I do recall some Tiger fans describing their side recently as the "JUGGERNAUT" and a "SLEEPING GIANT".

Huh, really?

I posted the sleeping giant comment in jest about the way the Bays have spluttered their way through the season so far and finally put in a 4 qtr effort against the Legs.

Bayman can speak for himself but he may have had his tongue firmly in his cheek when he made that juggernaut comment for the R3 Eagles match.

Nice try but do some better research next time my friend. If you can find any mention of going top or premierships this year from me (or any other Bay supporters), I'll chuck in my membership and sign up with the club of your choice ... you do follow a club I assume? ... or are you too scared to admit which one?

If it helps, use the search menu at the top of the page and let me know how you get on.

I reckon the Bays supporters learnt from last year about being overconfident.
