CA are hypocrites they let Brett Lee travel to South Africa to train with his IPL side whilst they were there, then fly off to Dubai for the Pakistan series then Fly back to finish off the IPL season. Mean while Shaun is left here in Adelaide busting to prove his fitness

Haha please when has Shaun tait ever been busting his arse to play for Australia. The docter and the physio both ruled him not ready for the IPL and that is why he did not play. He is clearly not fit enough yet he is willing to sacrifice his body and probably any chance of playing for Australia again by playing in the IPL for a few bucks.

Does this sound like a man ready to play cricket? "I am pretty ready to go. If i was to play cricket tomorrow i could wheel myself out.

That wasn't a smart move by Tait. What does he expect them to do when you openly admit you're only interested in the shorter forms of the game? Why should they give him a full CA contract especially with his injury problems? They can just pick him for the odd ODI or Twenty20 (whenever he's fit) and pay for him for that instead of keeping him on the books full-time. Threatening to not play in the ODI matches on the Ashes tour is poor form. How about stringing a couple of games together with the Redbacks? It sounds like it's all too hard and he just wants to play solely in the IPL.

Nice one Taity. You've joined the David Hookes/Wayne Phillips club. Go ask Flipper how that turned out for him. And if it wasn't for the longer form of the game teeball wouldn't exist. Might as well have a crack at MLB if all you are after is the coin. His comments were as unimpressive as many of his wayward spells. Who does the guy think he is, Dennis Lillee?

Well said REB. At least Taity will have plenty of time to search for his dummy cos he won't be required to be playing cricket any time soon.

What's wrong with becoming a specialist at one form of the game? The selectors have turned players into specialists for years, this time the player is openly choosing. Good luck to him, I reckon.

What selectors also do is take note and take it personally when players speak out about selection decisions. I reckon Dave Warner is being groomed for Teeball but so far he's yet to be slagging off at the selectors. It wasn't all that long ago he turned his back on the cricket scene because he had things to sort out. Looks like he's not finished.

So the problem is the selectors are too precious, not Tait. He wasn't slagging off until they about-faced on him.

I'm a bit disappointed with Big Taity. I've been his biggest fan, absolutely loved the bloke but not happy with his comments. I want to see some genuine dedication from the big bloke. So quick to pull the pin. I am desperate for the Redbacks to have success and he's our key ESPECIALLY in the longer form of the game, but he seems to be out for himself. Disappointing.
Can see where he's coming from but thought he had more time for his team!

Can anyone hi-light to me what exactly Tait has done in the past 18 months that suggests he is deserving of a contract?

He said on 5AA that he wasn't expecting a contract.

His issue, so he said, was that CA denied him the chance to play in the IPL and earn $500K because they wanted him to rest & recuperate, so he could be prepared for his commitments for Australia. Yet now they basically say they don't want him anyway, for the time being. So he feels he's been messed around and could have just gone over to the IPL when he wanted to.

I can understand where he's coming from (based on the 5AA interview) yet I don't know what to make of his general attitude towards his cricket. 3 years ago there was no IPL so he would have been in the same spot as he is now.

CA might say that if he wasn't pushing to try to play IPL in the first place he may have been better prepared, fitness wise, to play for Australia now.

I tend to agree with Pup's comments a few posts ago.

The guy pretty much openly admits he has no interest in Test cricket and wants to concentrate on ODI but more specifically Twenty20 cricket and then breaks down all the time when even playing those limited overs versions of the game. It must be a tough time for him though missing the IPL season (easy money), then missing out on selection for the World Twenty20 squad and now this.

I think it's actually a bit rough from the selectors, having told him not to go to the IPL and then drop him off the contract list in the middle of the IPL. Not quite the right way to do it, IMO.

It probably wasn't the right thing to do when he decided to walk away from the game when he did have a contract and a lot of others were vying for one.
Your view has merit, but paybacks a bitch.
I'd love to see him in there, as long as he can string a few games together though.
