Talk on any country footy league or club from the SA Country area

Re: Mallee FL

fair enough there was alot of talk, but we still managed the highest score in the league and the biggest winning margin so cant complain there, and tipper why are u drastically talking down your team. were is the pride for the club you play for. maybe stop insulting other clubs and instead of whinging from a B grader perspective knuckle down and try to make the A grade and have some pride

Trust me. there is no way in hell i will make the A grade! I am there to make up the numbers. And that doesnt mean i dont give it my all, but i realise that i am never going to be an A grade player. Too fat, too slow and too old! :(
Sorry to put so many noses out of joint though hey. i thought the whole point of this site is to get some talking between some people of opposing view points. makes people actually justify their viewpoints. And if i was just after insulting people wouldnt i have put my opinions in the karoonda thread? My comments were just my poinion on saturdays game, nothing more, and as i said before i will probably be wrong! there is one way to find out and that is to wait and see what the ladder looks like after round fifteen.
I am not drastically talking Peake down anyway. i am being realistic. as talked aboput with other teams, who have we picked up to improve from last year that will help us improve our ladder position? i am hoping that we can still play competitively, but to be realistic i dont think we will make the finals this year. Is there something wrong with an honest assesment of the teams position?
At least we will hopefully still have the B grade in the action at the end of the season, gives me a good excuse to watch the finals and have a few cans!

If your B grade is still in the finals Tipper shouldn't you be concentrating on playing rather than drinking?!

IMO your views on Peake come across as pessimistic at best even if it is your honest opinion. There is nothing wrong with dropping a few white lies on this site to pump your club up, everyone on here does it!

On another matter how are everyones numbers looking? We had to forfeit the B grade on the weekend, with at least half a dozen players unavailable for various reasons. We should have a side this week though.

It raises the question (again) about what shape the Mallee League and Mallee football in general will be in, in 5 years time?

I know Murrayville have very low numbers in the colts and junior colts, and unless there are at least a dozen senior players travelling from Adelaide each week we will struggle to field 2 teams.

President and secretary of the league are involved with Karoonda there for would think everything has been done by the book rock so no story here you would think! (i hope!)

=; =; =; Maybe thats why they thought they could get away with it. ;)

Mate, as i said i am there to make up numbers, the last two years, come finals time i have found myself wearing a waterboys yellow vest and not a guernsey. still gives the opportunity to have a couple of drinks during the breaks though hey, not everyone can get a game all the time.
As far as i am aware Peake are doing ok for numbers. we missed a few this week due to social commitments. This coming weekend should see more available for selection and therefore less colts\retired players required in both grades.

from my point of view i cant see the mallee league being in good shape if there is 1 at all in say the year 2014 or 2015 and that would be a great shame as i believe its a great league with some great players in it i had some great times in the league at my time at peake somtimes wish i never left i really do hope i'm wrong

any thoughts on this weeks games??

murrayville v karoonda - murrayville should start favourites with karoonda having about 5 or 6 out from all reports!

bdt v pinarooo - surely bdt just too many good players for the suparoos

peake v lameroo - once again lameroo should have too much depth for peake

Sounds about right dragonsphere except I wouldn't put us as favourites, I think it'll be a close game.

I hope your lads have got a packed lunch ready for the road trip, some of the new lads may need a map so they don't go off the beaten path on the way up here!

Peake were very good in the first quarter against Pinnaroo. Far more desperate and hard at the ball. If they could play 4 quarters like that, they could get a couple of wins on the board this year. They had some good strong bodies around the ground, although they had some whippets too. I think Pinnaroo would be glad to have got away with the win with Peake being 6 goals up a quarter time.
Does anyone know which of the Philby's was red carded on Saturday against Karoonda? and does this mean an automatic suspension?

Chris Philbey was red carded for constant abuse of the umpire...

Rumoured to have a 2 week suspension but I cant confirm sorry!
