The Toon are done if what I'm watching at the moment is any indication. I can't believe the calibre of players they've got who have given nothing so far. Spurs have been all over them for the whole 72 minutes so far, but while it's 1-0 Geordies are still a chance. Good management by Shearer to bring Viduka and Martins on while they've still got time to make a difference, but could be in vain. Guttierez is the ONLY player for Newcastle who can hold his head high. Duff, Owen, etc should pay back the money they've received. Spurs looking very good. And now Defoe comes on... Toon need a miracle.

GOING DOWN, GOING DOWN, GOING DOWN!!!!

Shouldn't laugh, but they are a rabble.

The most embarrassing thing is that we couldn't put 10 past them. 1 against a side that played as bad as they did today is a bit ordinary, but another clean sheet and 3 points....I'll take it!

Don't write off big Al just yet fella's

Hull are on free fall and only 3 points ahead of Newcastle. Toon have Boro yet and after todays defeat to Arsenal (although Boro did ok for much of the game), and that 2nd by Fabregas against the run of play must have broken their spirit. I would expect Toon to do Boro and HBull just can't buy a win.

Good point. Its a bottom 5 imo. Sunderland arent going great either. But i would still think Newcastle are going down. Maybe WBA could surprise everyone and survive?

Still no satisfaction for me. I'm not going to dance on their grave yet - we're still (barely) fighting.
Imagine what would've happened if the Cats and Mags were booked to play each other in the last round!!!!

Just out of interest, HTF is Joey Barton still allowed to play the game? The guy's a screw loose butcher, wish Roy Keane was still playing and finished his career permanently

I would hope shearer f*cks him off ASAP.... his first game back against the gunners he should have been red carded with his first challenge(2 footed worse than on Alonso), he then gave the smuggest look..... i loved the way the gunners then hacked him and fabby nutmegged him and made him look like a fool..... No need for players like him in the game and seriously what does he bring to that Newcastle team????

Barton shouldn't even be allowed to walk the streets a free man let alone play football in the EPL.

The thing is, he's actually a decent player and does bring some swagger to Newcastle.

But it's the shit he brings, like the tackle on Alonso that undoes his good work. Plus, imagine you're a player and you have to put up with his crap the whole time you're at the club. Newcastle is a shit place as it is. Having to go to training and play with Barton is hardly the icing on an already bitter tasting cake.

Apparently spurs are being heavily linked with signing Barton if Newcastle get relegated.

It was his spat with Shearer after the game that is the reason the Geordies have suspended him.

Wouldn;t be surprised if the last bit is true too.

Barton stuffed up. If we was a man he would have apologised to Shearer and his team mates for letting them down. Behaving like he did shows the quality of the bloke.

That comment is totally out of character for you.

Barton IS a vicious little prick and should never have been allowed back in the game. City were weak as piss and as for Keegan, his decision to "give Joey" another chance, shows what an idiot he was.

Barton has a career littered with violence on and off the field and those duckwits at the FA should have revoked his registration.

Here is something that might give you some comfort DA

Thanks to the Mirror

Shearer has spoken briefly to disgraced midfielder Joey Barton in the wake of his suspension, but insists the matter is closed.
Shearer said: 'Joey's been suspended until further notice and we will make a statement when the time is right. But at the moment there are more important things to talk about.'
Barton could be handed a summer escape route by Bolton, whose boss Gary Megson failed in a bid to sign the midfielder in January and has refused to rule out another offer at the end of the season.
Megson said: 'There are obviously issues but he does play his football for somebody else, so we need to respect that.'
The Bolton boss is expected to face competition from Blackburn. Manager Sam Allardyce, who took Barton to Newcastle during his time as manager at St James' Park, is convinced he can resurrect his career at Ewood Park.

i couldn't think of two more deserving teams. A perfect match for either of them.
