The Pav on the market?

It's like car dealing - about what the sucker will pay, not what it is worth.
If you're a dealer selling its worth $20K, but as a trade in it's worth $8K.
Freo would want 2 good young players for Pav, but no team in their right mind would pay that price for an ageing model about due to develop transmission problems... ;)

You then need to weigh up if it is worth it. My point has been made as I think what I mentioned would be what Freo would expect and I dont think either SA based club would be willing to give up anywhere near that sort of a deal.

I think Pav will be confined to the most unfortunate club there is, a champion player who will never experience a Premiership.

People said that about Crawf 4 years ago and surely people aren't falling for this premiership window crap. No-one said the Hawks would have there premiership window in 08 to 10 but they could easily win flags in this period and beyond. Most said that the Saints were well past it and look at them this year, no real good recruiting, just a better attitude. Smart clubs will be able to remain competitive and if you're competitive and make the finals, anything can happen, regardless of windows, doors, houses, whatever analogy you want to put in it.

Can you read? Where do I mention anything about a "Premiership window" ?

As for your last sentence, we are talking about Fremantle. Smart club? No.

Before you climb up on your horse try and comprehend what the post is about before you comment on it.

Was answering to you and some other posters in the same post. Sorry, I'll divide everthing up next so you can comprehend what i'm trying to say ie: i'm not saying Freo is a smart club, i'm saying that I don't subsribe to the notion that there are premiership windows (not that you said that Booney). Just that smart clubs will recruit well in the areas they need and therefore will stay competitive.
Also, maybe the fact that I used your quote was due to the fact that you said Pav will end up as a champ with no flag. Whose to say Freo don't win one in the next couple. Sounds to me like you think they're not in a premiership window.

Continuing the motor vehicle analogy, after tonights inept performance by the Crows forward line, wouldn't a Mercedes with a few kilometers on the clock be worth spending a few extra dollars on? You could trade a few of your brand new Hyundais and not get left behind in the traffic Crows fans ???

The Merc doesn't go far or fast if its transmission fails though - it depends how many miles on the clock and what damage has occurred.
The Crows need some marking options up forward, but I still don't think Pav is the answer at this stage of his career...
In fact, I'd be worried that with him there the Crows would try to kick every ball to him.
That didn't work for Port when Tredders was out of form through injuries in recent seasons.

I think Fremantle should be happy with Seller and either a round three draft pick or Shirley. They will never get what they request the first time and if Pav wants to leave they have to let him go. Fremantle will be the true losers here because they are either going to end up with two second or third rate players and no Pav or a undedicated captain who doesnt want to be there.

Given the body of the original article was that he would leave for a club to give himself the chance of a premiership, with the exception of one reply that resembled hope more than confidence, I still without valid reasoning reason as to why he would be coming to the Crows. I'm not stirring, I can not for the life of me see them challenging for a premiership within the next 5 or 6 years and especially not with the mad professor in charge. he had his chance before choking in the prelims

Well depending on what happens with this Free Agency thing, the crows might one day get there man. I cant see them actually getting trade working for him, so I would suggest there best option is to wait until he is out of contract then perhaps with again the Free Agency thing whatever happens with it, just might be his ticket home.

But Christ who signs a long term contract with Fremantle in the first place.

Stan, you're drawing a long bow there even suggesting that Pav would want to play for the Crows I think. You could argue that at this minute, Freo are closer to an AFL premiership than Adelaide.

Well Im not really drawing that much of a long bow. You are right though, does he want to play at the crows?. Well thats not what were are talking about here now is it?

I guess we are just assuming that he does. Anyway what I was talking about has nothing to do with where he wants to play. As really we are talking a hypothetica situation here.

You are kidding mate. Please tell me what drugs you're on because it must be some fairly good shit to be sprooking that nonsense. The Crows are genuine premiership chance within the next 4 years - Freo are likely not to participate in a finals series at all in that time.
