Can tell you that Dom or Tom would nat have given a rats ar#e about those comments, and no one had a problem with Scotty saying that..good kid who has a go. Many at the club thought it was tacky tham zuma felt he needed to include it in his after match speech given that so many wayback players had stayed on...then again tact and zuma have never been close.westcoastpanther wrote:Scooby wrote: A little birdie told me that Dom & TG are keen to stand young Scotty after some interesting comments made after the last game at the Gary...
You would be referring to Scotty saying after standing Dom all day 'I thought Tom would be a little better than that'. That's just reflective of the way Scotty is, he honestly didn't know who was who and really doesn't care for the hoo ha (not you Jon Whillas!!). Scotty didn't care, but obviously some with ego's did!!
On more important matters, congrats to Rangers for their win yesterday. Was fully deserved and they can now put their feet up for a fortnight while we steel ourselves to do battle with a confident mallee park outfit. Tough match in windy conditions, but Rangers just had a few too many tricks for an underdone demon outfit.
Both defences did a great job in helpful conditions, and zuma was able to rotate his talls up fwd in the second half causing some obvious mismatches with the absence of Moore. He conjured a couple of goals this way, and in the end that was the difference. We were all hoping that Gregory might be slipped forward in the last quarter to try and do the same, but was anchored loose in defence stemming the tide.
Thought our forward structure was a lot better than in previous weeks, but could not understand how Rangers were able to drop Cup Cakes Parker in the hole between FF & CHF for almost the entire 2nd & 4th qtrs without being manned up. At one stage we had the three key forwards playing out of the square, and BW and Parker were standing on their own in the hot spot. If parker didn't take 10 marks in the area then he didn't play. We were obviously trying to give Dom and Corey space, but allowed Rangers to soak up that space.
Noddy Tyler was tremendous on Murphy, and played the way you have to on him. Just attack the footy Noddy..well done.
IMO Rangers clearly won the clearances on the back of some magnificent ruck work from BW. Minya and Horgs were tremendous around the ground. Harders did a good job on Hull, but the old fella got some important touches in the last qtr.
I was hung over to the max, so there is a fair chance that none of the above happened as I have described it. Additionally given the lack of concentration that comes with extreme hang overs I am a bit hazy on Best Players but will have a go:
Rangers: Cup Cakes Parker, Tiger Watherston and three or four others.
Demons: Gregory, Horgan, Matt G,Tyrone Craig, Noddy and Meatballs Harders.
footnote- does anyone still think that umpire X favors his son and/or his sons team when he umpires?
