Was a pity the game had to be abandoned as it was a high quality contest with 13 goals kicked in the first quarter. The SAAFL rules state that a match must be completed in its entirety regardless of any delay in the play. However it reached 2:05 pm before the injured players were moved from the ground and ultimately the decision was made between umpires, captains and coaches to abandon and allow the A grade game to get underway. Only 1 quarter had been played and had the B's gone on much longer, it would have been dark before the A's could finish.

Some B grade players were not overly happy with the decision as both sides wanted to get the win but surely common sense prevailed.

Do others agree that the correct decision was made given the circumstances?

I do agree that the right decission was made 1 they were very serious suspected injuries both boys had and 2 to many "if's" on boths side arise if you dont award 1 point each. Trinity felt they could have won easily, Hectorville im sure believed they could have come back and won! So 1 point each is the only fair way. Should be good game next time we come up agaist each lol just spweing its on Heccies home deck lol Heccies play well at home!

I dont believe the whole game does have to be played, i think the ruling is that if the game is abandon in the 1st 2 quarters then a draw stands 1 point each, but if the game is in either the 3rd or 4th quarter then what ever the score is, is the final result. Modbury and TTG had this happen a few weeks back when lights went out and modbury i believe got the win.

and our boys were very devo to loose 2 of their boys in the way they did and then to also not be able to play on, considering 9 of those 13 goals scored were Trinity goals

It's hard as a player to re-group and concerntrate on the game after a sickening injury, let alone a double blow. I think the right decision was made and it is a credit to both clubs to handle things the way they did. Hopefully the lads make a full recovery and have no after affects of the clash.

what a long day 2day. b grade got delayed by 5mins before the match to fill a pot hole/sprinkler head and then the sickening incident. we could hear the clash of heads from the sideline. there was no heccies player involved. from what i heard, player 1 had brain fluid coming from his nose and was frothing from the mouth! and player 2 had tingling down his legs and couldnt clench one of his hands. player 2 didnt move the whole time during the delay. really good to hear they were ok.
there was talks of finishing the 2nd quarter and then playin 2x8min quarters but the time delay was too long.
was good for heccies A grade to get a win. always tough travelling to trinity and then to remain focus after the incident. Also was dissapointing that we had to use the boys n girls toilets as changerooms! really enjoyed playing against trinity. good intensity and the trinity played in very good spirit.

Would you rather one of your players got injured in the pot hole or do you think its better to be a little late and be safer than sorry? Understandably im sure Heccies felt like there was allot of waiting around for things but at the end of the day if the accident didnt happen would a 5 min wait for a pot hole to be filled over really been a problem? Trinity are very thankful to Heccies for all their patience and understanding in saturdays events.

Glad to hear no Heccies boys were hurt? not sure then who the 3rd player was? Ambo lady just told us the 3rd person was ok just a small bump to the head???

A Grade game was a good game considering what had happened on the oval and im sure both sides were a little shaken by the events of the B Grade, Trinity were wanting the win esp on their home deck, couple biggish outs from our A Grade this week, mid fielder, ruck and our FF. But that said Heccies played well. Both A & B grade games should be good when we come up again.

Change rooms yes were a problem that were out of Trinity OS hands on the day, Trinity OS boys were also moved to different change rooms due to renovations at the school and because the 1st 18's were also at home they get 1st preference. Please let me know if indeed you were put in change rooms that were as you say just boys and girls toilets because i was not aware you were put somewhere with no showers etc and will inform the club of this.

Sounds like those toilets were the toilets near the chapel.
We used to use toilets as changerooms all the time I was there. Lots of room!

Browny is going OK, dont see their games coz Im in orange, but from all accounts, his slimming down is paying dividends. Sibs is a class act and if he doesnt get the ball, he brings someone else in. He aint playin for 2 weeks coz in Qld. Good man, takes his holis in winter and not cricket season LOL

hahaha not quite right mate he watched 1 C grade game at home when the A's and B's were at mitchell park 2 blokes in our C grade played there 250th games that day but we have been slinging shit at him saying his watching his new team when he comes back from injury (which is more than likely next week now) and with a 1-3 record at the moment i would probably think he has enough runs on the board to come striaght back in the A's. had we been 4-0 or 3-1 who knows but i would think we need every1 we can get at the moment.

Paralowie boys- after playing both CLG and Brahma, who do you rate as the better side?

CLG for sure we were very undermanned (no excuse) but they were just awsome to some it up! dont know if they just had a day out or they are up to that standard all the time but i would go as far as to say they would be the best side i have played against for years. i thought lockleys were tall pfft they have nothing on CLG and they run like rovers and all day! harvey is still there go2 man and he does it well a little goal hungry but a still great player there full forward is also a gun and a great kick for goal, one of there ruckmen rested forward for the last half and bobbed up with 5 last half goals and they get alot of drive off there half back line all in all they are a great side no doubt about that.

i went and watched the supposed game of the round btw clg and paralowie and even though the game was not close it was very impressive to watch..look out all the other teams cause clg can play some very good football, they look very well drilled and they stuck to their game plan all day. I watched clg play heccies in round 1 and since that game clg have appeared to go up several notches with their game. Like carey said they are tall and very very fit, the buggas didnt stop running all day, and not just the midfielders, the fowards and backman run and run. I should also say that i noticed clg were missing some of their big names too, a couple of key backmen and their ruck played half of the 1st quater and didnt come back on. Cant wait for clg vs brahma!!

after we played clg in a trial i said on here they are the team to beat and were div 5 standard at least..nothing has changed in my mind..and that includes brahmas and heccies..however, everyone has bad days and clg will have theirs..they will be hoping not in finals again i guess..west croydon for me for the 5th spot

Maybe haven't gone up a couple notches but just seems that way cause they were actually put under some real pressure in Rd 1! Going on results they havent been pushed since Rd 1. Their real test will come against Brahma in a couple of weeks.
