agree it was a very very boring game and being there was painful...
But let's be serious..

Adel set up with 5 forwards and 7 backs..
Melb set up with 3 forwards and 9 backs..
This was not Adelaide's doing and they made a decision not to "free up" the Melbourne forward line by playing 9 forward and 3 back.... Smart move by Craig and won us the game - which is the important bit in the end.
Port Power has 16 years history at Football Park...

The Port Magpies have 40 years history and the two shall never be confused or combined

As Gerard Healy said during the game "It's one of those games where you just make sure you take the 4 points on offer and don't worry about anything else"

If you think that is entirely Adelaide's fault then you should start watching some footy.

Sorry that we couldn't be as exciting as Port who managed a scintillating 1.3 in the first half.

Against Hawthorn you had 'the greatest minor round win in your history' you then go out and kick one solitary goal in the first half and was it 5? for the game?

Exciting stuff.

It wasn't entirely Adelaide's fault, but it was mostly...... ;) they should have destroyed a piece of sh1t Melbourne.

I never said Port were exciting, they were absolute sh1t.....

Yes we had one of our greatest minor round win in history and yes we did kick 1 goal for the first half and five for the game..... your point?

No it's not exciting, one minute your saying it's not exciting and the next your are saying it's exciting, make up your mind!

What this game has proved is that Adelaide are a three goal better side than the mighty Demons. Let's all be positive about that LOL.

What the??

The Geelong v Brisbane game might not have been a contest but you can't say it was boring football. The Cats played their best football since 2007 I thought. Cameron Mooney was diving around like superman, Jimmy Bartel was having his normal blinder in the slop and Gary Ablett kicked one of the goals of the year. Don't mistake a lack of a contest with a lack of good football. The Melbourne v Adelaide game was a contest but it was a shocker of a match but the Cats put on a clinic at Cat Park in the wet but you failed to heed the lesson.

Detention for you Clifford!

Mate, really, where did HOF mention anything about comapring this to the appaling display Port put on on Friday night?

Could a Crow fan for once, just once think about football without having to try and bring Port into the argument?

I enjoyed the Geelong v Adelaide game, despite losing, because Geelong played good footy but Adelaide actually made them earn it.

Brisbane were brushed aside at every contest.

Stephen Milne kicked a better goal against the Power but that game was a dud also.

The Saints were also superb.

Geelong and Saint Kilda looked like they were in a training drill at times. Particularly Geelong. Big YAWN!

check out this peice of biased editing, bit rough i reckon. but still some truths.
Craig has it all wrong on Bock boos
Sportal / Paul Gough - April 28, 2009, 11:54 am

Unfortunately it seems years of attending matches mostly with no opposition supporters have made Adelaide fans a little soft and one can only wonder how they would cope in Victoria where banter between opposition fans is a way of life where matches between teams from the same city are a common occurrence.

plenty more in the article.

You get bored watching Geelong play?? I love watching them play, they play the game the way it should be played, and are the best side going around for it. All these rolling zones and things are flash in the pan tactics. Geelong beat sides by taking them on in the contests and backing each others skills.

Ablett had another 42 touches and I can't remember him missing a target once in howling wind and rain.

Tom Harley claims that Hawthorn copied the rolling zone strategy from Geelong and Bomber Thompson has publicly acknowledged Neil Craig's 2005/6 Crows as their own inspiration for the strategies. He often refers back to that game at AAMI where the Crows flogged them by 90 points as a wake up call that they needed to get themselves up to speed quickly.

Geelong flood and zone with the best of them. The difference is that have such strength and skill in their defence and midfield that they are able to execute their forward movement better than anybody. The lesser teams don't have the same skills so they get bogged down and forced to chip sideways, etc.

Plus they have Gary Ablett!

melbourne set up with numbers behind the ball and adelaide were content to play with numbers in melbourne's attacking 50.
geelong & st kilda set up with their rolling zones but they move forward when the ball goes forward ie in geelong's forward 50 the zone moves forward whereas on sunday the adelaide setup seemed to be defense in depth with free players often two kicks behind the play.
melbourne won against richmond by taking the game on - i'm not sure why the tactics chnaged so dramatically in a week - i guess bailey believed it was the best way of grinding out a victory. craig would've trusted his team to be slightly better on the counter attack and this is how it panned out.

was a crap game but i'm sure it won't be the last one throughout the season.

yes, port may even be involved in one but generally when they bend over they bend over in the midfield putting ridiculous pressure on their backline by not getting getting back to help resulting in a higher score against them.

geelong were good but brisbane certainly played into their hands by playing loose defenders giving geelong's midfield and defense time to set up and really use their skills.
always forgive your enemies...nothing annoys them so much
