You guys were right about 5AA. Just turned it on, listened for 2 minutes ... heard plenty of Chad Cornes, Kane Cornes, Tredders, the mercurial Motlop .. blah, blah, blah .. did not hear one St.Kilda name mentioned. You would have thought Port were leading by 72, not trailing.

Should be interesting in the next hour or so with all the callers.

Although, it is the lowest losing score, beating the 5.10 (40) scored against Adelaide in the 2nd Semi of 2005.

Interestingly, and amazing to me that it was 10 years ago, that in that same season when Port scored the 4.8 (32), their highest score was a losing one.

I didn't listen to five aa.

Chad Cornes. Spoiled the ball down the corridor to a Saint player more than once. Got frustrated and gave away a silly free kick. Junk time possessions.

Kane Cornes. Serviceable but way to negative and didn't provide anything for the Power. Shaded Dal Santo for three of the four quarters but he probably needs to be a more damaging player. I don't think Port has the resources for them to sacrifice Kane's game in a tagging role and it's time he became a more offensive player.

Tredrea. Outnumbered at the contest and made the best of things with very limited opportunities.

Motlop. Invisible when it counted and afraid to get his hands dirty and selfish and lazy once again. A real non event in contested situations.

I also noticed that Captain Cassisi squibbed about three contests in the first quarter and that the Power players were not contesting in the air at all and no one was prepared to take the game on and attempt to run through the lines even when the game was shot to blazes. Might as well go down swinging. The groans of the fans when Port kicked backwards were audible and understandable.

The instruction to play on immediately at all costs against the best defence in the comp led to an epidemic of seriously dumb football that lasted the whole evening. There is a fair gap between Port's best and worst at the moment and for me they were as bad tonight as they were in the Grand Final two years ago.

Only Lade, Gray and a lesser extent the Cornes boys could hold their heads up tonight. Even though I hate the mongrel I reckon Brogan was very stiff to get reported tonight. Didn't seem to be much in that.

regards,

REB

Brogans report was just dead set RIDICULOUS and simply shows that the umps have no FEEL for the game the times. Should be thrown out in seconds by the tribunal BUT when was the last time they made a logical decision?
Agree with REBs comment about Ports DUMB decision making ability, regularly turning the ball by playing on too often without any thought as to who they're going to deliver it to.

Motlop was NOT lazy tonight as i witnessed quite a number of hard chases from him to put pressure on the free running Saint defenders. The ridiculous routes that the Powers midfield take to try to deliver the ball into their forward 50 basically gives none of their forwards any chance.

He struggled but was hardly his fault, delivery was terrible and it would have been a nightmare to be a Port forward last night.

He put in a couple of good chases. What about the rest of the night? You cant pick and choose when you chase but with Motlop you get the feeling he thinks he can. I have been a supporter of his but last night his body language was dead set terrible. No wonder he is the whipping boy when Port lose. He looks dis interested, he missed a lot of tackles and blokes seemed to be able to just amble around him even bigger defenders (Dawson and co). I wont even start on his goal kicking.

When he is good he is terrific but when he is down he looks terrible. Needs to be find some middle ground quickly.

Very good observation of Motlop, I've noticed the same thing. Mind you, there have been quite a few lazy forwards like him over the years.

I was wrong last week when I thought Port had improved.
It appears they are still the fragile front runners they have been for the last few years.
This was shocking, and I turned it off at 11 goals to 1 and watched a stupid movie that was more tolerable.
[At least it makes the Crows defeat by the Saints look better...]

It should be our national anthem - it doesn't matter that it is irreverent to authority and not "grand".
That suits our national character.
