Tipping Souths as they young, keen and must be in some good early form. All that goes a long way to early wins in a season.

Don't think ours boys mentally ready yet. Heaps of talent but not quiet there yet. Hope I'm wrong.

nice work eski ,the big worry for me is getting the ball first as bostons will have one of the better midfields blacker from all reports is very very good chuck in marsh and then theres woody,k hull, franklin ,tabe and the added bonus for bostons will be eze wanting to shove it up souths i would expect him to run himself into the ground and have a big say in this match.

I think Herangi has the talent but his commitment is not there. I have forgotten franklin who is a definate starter and maybe Sideshow is the other that might play in the backlines if available.
South may be up and running but we should have the class edge to beat them one would think.

The much anticipated round 1 is here..... and some evenly matched games to start the season.

Bostons $1.70
Lincoln South $2.10

The odds would have been B $1.28 v LS $3.40 a fortnight ago but the young eagles have shown something and have given some hope for a push for a finals spot. The club has improved its depth but does lack a gun midfielder and a good CHF/FF. Eski's honesty in his assesment of the tigers and where they are currently at leaves this game as a flip of the coin game. Troy Smith was unimpressed with the tigers trial and certain facets of pre-season and the eagles may be able to upset the tigers who may not be at the top of their game at this early stage.
Bostons will probably finish above LS at the end of the season but the general feeling is that there is an upset brewing this wkend. With so many new young players LS may take time to gel and for this reason I am tipping the Tigers to get up in a close one, I just think Arbon, Marsh, Blacker and Hywood might have the edge in the centre and I would leave big Brett W in the sqaure and send the ball long at every opportunity.
Tip: Bostons 1-39

Tasmans $1.85
Marble Range $1.85

These two teams clashed in a trial earlier this month with a kick the difference and you expect another close encounter. Will Semmler and Sargeant get the supply they need this year with the loss of players up field? Tasmans will be competative and are a team that I would expect to imporove as the season wears on although history does not suggest that.
Marble Range have only one confirmed signing hence reluctency to print in the press this week their 'gains' with half a dozen losses it is hard to see them improving. They are a proud lot and will make teams earn victories against them though.
Could go anyway but if forced to tip Marble Range 1-39

Waybacks $1.33
M Park $3

A couple of trials recently would have benefited the peckers as they are renowned slow starters.
M Miller added to the forward line adds a touch of class and playmaker Harry Miller is said to be going well and has rounded up a few of the troops, he will lead a small brigade that is untouchable when it clicks.
Who will front up for the peckers is the key to the match?
The bigger bodies and commited Demons are expected to win but if the peckers can get the loose man going then anything is possible.
Rossco has trained the Dees hard pre-season and I would expect them to finish best.
Waybacks 1-39
BL are $1-00-2  thats not even $1-01

Does PL footy really need the Tigers, after last years efforts I'd say no. It's a bye anyway, might as well just call the day off and go fishing!![/quote]

they may need to be reminded that the saints had 7 A grade players missing in round 1, very early days.
their youthful stars may find the going tougher as the season wears on and the ground isnt so dry..

They should get in touch with a footy club on the other side of the peninsula they know where to get premiership t-shirts from.
