Carlton Season 2009

Talk on the national game

They'll make the eight by default and get absolutely hammered in the finals.

Besides certain games that need to be played twice a year (showdowns, derbies, Carlton Collingwood etc) the AFL have always tried to make teams that finished bottom 8 play top 8 sides from the previous season once. Trying to even up the comp is what they call it.
Do you think that they should not do that just because a team loooks like they are on there way up?
Melbourne only play the Hawks, Adel, Syd, St.Kilda once and only travel out of Melb 4 times for away game (+1 at the Gold Coast which is there home game). All those clubs they play once finished top 8 last year.
We travel out of Melbourne 5 times plus a 6th time for a home game we also sold to play at the Gold Coast.
Poor argument REB

Just for your info REB. Those five games are: Sydney at SCG, Adel at AAMI, Brisbane at GABBA, Freo at Subi, Port at AAMI.
That would be five interstate trips not four as you mentioned.
Facts are a beautiful thing ;)

Your team is Geelong, is that right? 5 trips out of Melb aswell, playing only Collingwood once, Nth Melb once, St Kilda once. All top 8 sides last year.
Keep your whingeing to actual issues like maybe how Geelong have to travel 80km to Melb 9 times a year. Return trip of 160km meaning 1440km a year extra travel than any other Vic team or the equivalent of one extra trip to Adel. Wah! :d

Disappointing two weeks for the Blues, i marked them down to beat the Bombers and Swans, but they have pulled up short in both games.

In saying that, i think they have exceeded expectation so far this season and they were always going to have their ups and downs.

That is in the past, the present is bleak. The only way you are remotely competitive at the moment is because of cheating and tanking. Your once mighty club has fallen heavily.

Indeed they are. Anyone can make an honest mistake. Perhaps Carlton fans might need to look that word up in the dictionary. After all, your club is a well known salary cap cheat and on that matter just how much is Juddy being paid to be a Visy *ahem* 'Environmental Ambassador'. LMAO, after all the creative bookeeping, YOU GUYS ARE STILL CRAP. Now that's a fact. Enjoy your continuing mediocrity ha ha.

You were the one whingeig about how many times we travel and who we play. Just showing you that it's reasonably the same for every team. It will always be lopsided towards Vic clubs. You missed the actual point that the AFL try to make bottom 8 sides only play top 8 sides from the previous year once. If you're looking for conspiracies, jump on the Port or Crows bandwagon. How many times has Choco whinged about the draw. I just thought it was a bit rich coming from a Cat who is in the same basic geographical position as my club with the same lack of travel.
BTW, How many years did you guys under perform before you finally won your first one in how many years and then go on to lose another one you should have won?

Gidday Voicey! Hope you enjoyed the game today. In fact, I hope you enjoy today's game. One flag each in the AFL era and you know what? You are right, we can't keep up with Carlton. We've never managed to finish 16th in our 150 year history. Keep up the good work. Imagine losing to Sydney when Barry Hall is shadow boxing at his local RSL nyuck nyuck.

SHAKE DOWN THE THUNDER FROM THE SKY bwahahahahahahaha. It's over sunshine! BLUES ARE DROSS! Might be time to tank again.

Well for years people have laughed at Collingwoods draw and them not being good enough to take advantage of it. This year it's your turn. When was the last time you played the Hawks or Geelong twice in one year? Even Shane Warne couldn't spin that one out. When you can win 45 out of 48 matches there is no such thing as a 'hard draw'. When you can't make the eight and have thousands of bandwagon supporters waiting in the wings there IS such thing as an easy draw and you clowns have got a doozy this season. Too bad you'll be going on holidays in September yet again. But that's OK, you used to win premierships back when money talked. Problem is, these days no one is listening.

Funny how those who run out of constructive arguments use "salary cap" and "cheque book 80s football" as lame excuses to try and win an argument - look at S**t Kilda and all their early picks running around!

The salary cap stuff happened in the 1990s under John Bloody Elliott - both of those things have gone thank goodness ... so get over it all you non-Carlton supporters!

Two losses - so what, there are still five months or so to go in this season and we only want to finish in the top half ... we don't expect to be top two, three or four but we would hope to make it to week two of the finals.

To make the finals and win in the first week will be a great thing for a club that were a power house in the 70s and 80s before being a bit of a yo-yo club from 1996 to 2007.

Rising out of the bottom four with a young team with some talented additions in 2008 bode well for the future and we hope to be apart of the top half of the ladder for quite a while.

But, first things first, we have to get the wins on the board with some consistent footy. The one thing we really need is a ready made backman to lead the back six - that would help us in our aim to be consistent a finals team.
