Security Screw Driver Bits

I have a dilemma. We have security screens on our home that have security screws in them. 8 on each screen, about 15-20 screens around the home.

I am on a mad journey to repaint the home and need to remove these screens. Nowhere I could think of can supply me with a bit that fits these screws. The shape of the bit I require can only be described as a 'house' - flat across the bottom, straight up each side and then angled upwards to a point in the middle. Rough sketch in the image attached to this post.

Anyone have any thoughts on where I may be able to go to get something that would help me out? I am really dreading the thought of drilling out each and every screw and replacing them all with new ones.

Smac, given the shape is a "house" as you say will a screwdriver from "floor to ceiling line" - diagonally - do the job?

The head of the screws are very soft, all of my improvisations have buggered the screw head almost completely.

Mate, i am back at work tomorrow. I will check out some of the catalogues i have at work and see if any of our suppliers do anything that resembles that.

Maybe also try Total Tools at Cormack Rd, Wingfield, or Heatley Sales, around the corner on South Rd. Both are likely to have a security bit set in stock.

Might be stating the obvious but did you try the manufacturers website (if they have one) cos they might FAQ page or advice line telling you the technical specs of the bit you need...if nothing else would make asking in a store a bit easier if you know the name and size.

JAS, would do just that if I knew who the manufacturer was. The screens were there when I bought the place and there is no recognition of manufacturer or supplier on the screens anywhere.

I've got a set of security drill bits but I've just checked and none are that shape....options would be to contact a locksmith, a security screen company and quote the brand (if known) or even a 'handyman' in your area. Believe it or not, window cleaners would be another option to contact.

Done the run around of these places and a few more they recommended. No joy, although one guy suggested I get an allen key and grind one corner off to make something I could use.

Will give that a bash and throw these screws out and start again.

I think the idea is the make it so only the installers for the company, or working in the trade, can do anything - for a fee of course....
I have some lamps that need a new switch but you need an unusual 3 pointed driver to get inside them.

Would also have thought that with security screens the point is to have screws that don't work with the standard screwdrivers as most burglars would be less likely to carry a specialist screwdriver.

All of the installers I have spoken with all tell me that they supply a screwdriver when they install new screens. Presumably this was done when these were installed but that was never passed on when I bought the house.

WE had Shutters and Screens installed 2-3 years ago mate, and they definitely didn't leave us with the screwdrivers for them.
