Just a quick report .I had just under 2 hours for a fish this morning .I dropped my lad off and had to go back and pick him up.
Wasn't the best mornings fishing.I lost a very small fish that wasn't a bream .And then I caught the smallest Bream on a fly (actually got a smaller snapper on bait .
And u guessed it the camera played up .
Oh well theres always tomorrow morning.

Lucky as the fish was tiny tiny tiny.Well it was working very blurry head shot the other picture didnt come out
Plus as I just wrote in another topic a young lady stopped her car got out and took pictures of me fly fishing . I did ask the wife if she was having me followed ;)
So if I get in the paper thats Mickyj in a hat that should be on the head of an illegal mexican worker.

PS
If the picture had gotten back to a certain fishing forum that I don't use any more .My life would be full of told u so's

I took Saturday off for the footy and then didn't feel like tying flies saturday night so I had sunday off as well.
Hit and i will name the spot Settlers Beach (I will get to why latter) from 7.30 to 9.00am .I trudged the length of the beach wading and casting.Nothing absolutely nothing .
I walked to the next beach and in the space of 40 minutes including cutting and retying my mono leader.I lost a total of 7 fish plus something larger that jumped out the water and missed my surface fly .So different from the last beach and such a short distance between the 2 I couldn't work it out.
Went back to Settlers drive Beach tried again .And then I found the reason why I couldn't get a jump let alone a hit .Laying along the shore how I missed it earlier I have no idea small Bream about 15cms in length.Dead and gutted just laying there .Why are fishers doing this why kill and leave under sized fish

Now I cant wait for my new chemically sharpened hooks to arrive . ;)

These days just the fly .
What I didn't write is I have changed my flies design slightly.Instead of either the foam being pushed onto the shank of the hook(being careful not to cover the point) or tied long ways on top.I have tied and super glued it sideways.so in effect it looks like one of those Blackmore goldfish but a lot more colourful.I did this mainly as the foam pushed onto the shank would only last a short while from attacks by those toothy Bream.
While i failed today again :( I did get to see some biggish fish come up behind this fly .And strictly speaking not sure its still called a popper the foam was making a nice popping noise when it was hit and run with .
And i loved the larger fish jumping out the water to hit it while it moved . ;) Makes it more fun and adrenaline pumping .One fish sacred me and one passerby as it jumped hit and took the fly and ran and spat.
Couple of days I should have my new hooks pity locally no one had them.
Cheers

Absolute DH's...what a waste...not just of that fish but the ones that might have bread from it too.

Incidentally I've noticed that our gov have recently started running tv ad's warning people about the penalties if they get caught fishing without a license...never done that before. I think the maximum fine is £2500.

JAS
