THE SCORING SYSTEM
4 points awarded for a correct guess. .5 of a point is deducted for every ladder position that a prediction is astray of the correct position.
Why 4 points?
Originally I was going to award 8 points, but then discovered that it was impossible to have an odd number as a total, because if one team is wrong then another has to be wrong also, hence always resulting in an even number. This gave an inflated difference between punter's results, so I finally thought it better to halve everything to give a more accurate reflection of punter's predictions.
EDIT:
Maximum possible score= 36 points
(9 correct tips multiplied by 4= 36 points)
:END EDIT
Minimum possible score= 16 points.
I am not a mathematician, but so far as I have been able to figure it is impossible to score less than 16 points using the method I have described. Therefore I came up with a "Real Score" which deducts this minimum to give an idea of what score was actually earnt.
