With that spine no wonder willaston got smashed in the GF. Not alot of heart in that lot. Jeremy Johncock being the exception.

Dont want to keep harping on it but Nelson was used as Willastons number 1 Ruckman both times against our boys. Bennie was played in defense.

Tanundas win against Brighton shows they again will be the team to beat. Wouldnt read too much into the Willaston v South trial, i hear South Gawler had a few out.

Tanunda V Gawler Central grand final my early prediction.

One result from this week is that Tanunda played Brighton and beat them by a couple of goals. Pretty good effort for a country side to beat a Div 1 side, B grade got flogged. Tanunda where basically at full strength with only M Underwood missing. Week before they beat Loxton North easily over 6 quarters.

Swooper

take nothing away from tanunda they were good , would have been an even better game if brighton had 12 of the players that played the week b4 playing !!!!

With heart being the centrepiece of the gawler central ethos in the past decade only 2 players Kym Herrman and Brad Taylor have ever been able to deliver on that promise resulting in very few A grade grand finals apperances in the blg and limited premierships won by the tigers in their 120 year history.

true trial games count for nothing, but unless sth had a CHF, FF, FB & Centre out I doubt they will improve much more than on what has been seen in their trial form.

from the APFL thread

Mallala Vs Nurioopta game on Saturday was a great trial and I think both clubs would be happy with the standard and benefit of the game.

Nuri belted the pies in the B's with far more mature and strong bodies along with a bit more class.
In the A grade, Nuri started really well with the pace of the game and pressure on the ball carrier as high as I have seen it for a long time. Both side tackled really well which always makes for entertaining viewing. Nuri lead for most of the day and got out to about 5 goals at one stage just after half time. Mallala showed some good signs pulling the lead right back slowly to loose by about 6 points (give or take a couple of points). Scores read something like this Nuri 9. 9. 63 def Mallala 7. 15. 57. Mallala prob had 55% of the ball but finished poorly in front of goal. Pretty even team performance with no real standouts and importantly no major injuries.

Well ill agree to disagree with you on this one Pinch Hitter.

I wear my heart on my sleeve and can only call it as i see it. But i will say, Gawler Centrals will be the highest finishing Gawler club once again this year, you can put your house on that.

All the best to Gawler Central boy Mark Webber in Sepang tonight.

there is no way BD would get first use of the ball with Nelson rucking.

was a mug with a heart the size of a pea on the field.

but a good bloke off.

With that sort of reputation i am amazed he was given the job to coach after only recently retiring.

A bloke that had no ability and a heart the size of a pea wouldnt draw alot of inspiration from his troops.

Maybe I was a little harsh in my last post.

but Nelson was by no means that much of an integral part for willaston in that year they lost GF or any of his years there.

Does work hard around and for the club, perhaps that got him over the line as BD coach.

Speaking of...Is Mick Spanagel back from interstate these days?

Pinch Hitter or Don Brook , how would you guys rate Nelsons time at Willaston ? Was he worthy of the number 1 ruck position after the greats before him eg Miles , Cloak , Lagana.

i played that year and that game and nelson played the first half of the failed GF season and then was dropped and did not return with Troy Bennie used in the ruck.

Sorry mate, it's no certainty yet so don't want to shoot my mouth off too soon.
Just rest assured, that if it does happen he will be a very big IN. AFL experience.
