re ovingham: i'd have thought that a club with two teams wouldn't have had a and b grade squads.

good first up round too

obviously 'squad' was the wrong term to use. i apologise to all the gramma nazis around...

my picks are;
St Pauls over Athelstone 1-39
Ovies to beat SHOCS 1-39
Houghton to roll Flinders 1-39
Henley to belt Uni by more than 15 goals
Angle Vale to edge out the Pines in a tight one under 20pts

out of interest, the C2 uni side compared to the Div 7 uni side... how much difference?

this year i'd expect a fair bit with very good numbers out - probably a more consistent side than c2 which had some extremely good players then fell away a bit

he's in the a/b grade squad - positionally unsure so i'm guessing like every other uni player a flanker

there's a young bloke by the name of Michael Hogg out there, he told me he's havin a crack at the Div 2 side... what are his chances Finn? do you know the lad?

he's rucking in 2 reserves. he's talented - i'd think he's probably more suited to a key position/forward role up higher
mitch allen is playing c1 - got him confused with matt allen

Athelstone v St Pauls
Sacred Heart OC v Ovingham - Ovies First time in the "big league" for a while, but they'll miss Klompys bags.

Flinders Uni v Houghton Districts - Houghton were tipped to win the div 5 premiership on Grassroots last night - that's right DIV 5. So they'd have to win this
Henley v Adelaide Uni - took the soft option and stayed down, will go through undefeated and remain in div 7 next year
Angle Vale v Nth Pines

Athelstone v St Pauls - Will be a very close game, Raggies to be at their best this time of year and tough to beat, though Sainters may just prevail tomorrow.

Sacred Heart OC v Ovingham - Ovies to struggle with depth as year progresses, hafta win games early. Don't know much about SHOC, expecting their elevation to Div 1 to improve the depth down their grades and should win.

Flinders Uni v Houghton District - Flinders Uni a bit of an unknown, looking at their side only two inclusions from last years team. Obviously I'm picking us, but will probably be a close game.

Henley v Adelaide Uni - Big recruiting drive at the top of the club for the Sharks, will probably be the team to beat due to filter-down effect and are strong at this time of year.

Angle Vale v North Pines - North Pines to kick off a good year, I think their A Grade will be very competitive. Not sure on Angle Vale, have lost some very good players.

Is there a life-size cardboard cut out of the bloke in the forward pocket or something ??
I love grapes. With grapes, you always get another chance. You know, if you have a crappy apple or a peach, you’re stuck with that crappy piece of fruit. If you have a crappy grape, no problem-just move on to the next. ‘Grapes: The Fruit of Hope.

It's not a case of that, there have been and there currently are plenty of great leaders at the club who do not need a title to exhibit their leadership skills. Beefa is a club legend whom everyone respects, and I mean everyone, past and present. Besides, it would be wierd if he wasn't skipper.
