The Eagles managed to get past Kapunda pretty comfortably last night in their trial game at Hamra Homes Oval. In a good hit-out for both teams, the Eagles put on 6.1 to 1.0 in the 2nd of 3 A-Grade "quarters" to put the result beyond doubt. The first 3 B-Grade "quarters" also ended in a win to the Eagles (I think?), but only after reinforcements were sent out after quarter time! Some of the lads who hadn't been to as many trainings as perhaps they should've ended up playing 4 or 5 "quarters". Better players for the Eagles included newbie Daniel Thomas, Matt Higgs, Jazz Wilson and Shaun Price in the ruck. The centre square worked quite well for the Eagles, especially in the dominant 2nd "quarter". Kapunda were well served by a few blokes who I don't really know their names, but apparently "Tayls" goes all right! Brad Valentine wasn't his dominant self, which is surprising, I thought he would have been up for this one! Longing for home perhaps.... All in all, a good night and the Eagles can now look forward to returning to home base next week against Min/Man, if only because they won't have to run as far as you do at the Ponderosa! Massive oval that one. #:-s

Mallala went down to Berri in their trial on Saturday. Berri fielded almost 50 players across the two matches which was telling in the end, considering the pies took up about 32. After a 3hour bus trip up to Berri and missing a few key players Mallala started well and lead for most of the 4-qtr A grade match before loosing by a couple of goals by the end. A good first hit out in bloody warm conditions and the dip in the river afterwards was sensational. B grade lost by plenty but a few of the young lads looked good.

Nuri this week will be a huge test and looking forward to it. Punters have tipped Nuri for a top 4 finish this year under old Mallala coach Ian Stafford. Should be good!!

HB vs. Roberstown saturday. Was the traditional 6 qtr match as Roberstown could not produce a full b grade side. A grade started the game on which Hamley were above and beyond Roberstown for first 3 quarters. B grade also went well but scores evened up by end of 5th quarter.

Standout players- Justin Lampard, Adam Slok & A grade ruckmen Mathew Green.

Congratulations to Jared Allmond from TW whom made his League debut for the Eagles Vs Centrals on Saturday. Apparently was in the best players and kicked a goal.

Interesting to see Balaklava Power draftee Glenn Dawson was playing in the reserves.

Was a good hitout Donkey. We played 2 quarters of B Grade then 4 quarters of A grade. Perfect conditions apart from the heat, but both teams battled well. Played in good spirits and well done to the Eagles boys for hanging around for a few beers after the game. Couldn't tell you the score cause I don't know if it was being kept or not. Got another trial at home this week against BBH and looking forward to it.

How good is it now that footy season is back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Two Wells had a 6 quarter game at Freeling - it was pretty close most of the day although no scores were kept on the scoreboard. Some good signs considering many of the Roosters better players didn't play - the new guys all did some good things.

Well done Jarred Allmond - hopefully the start of a long career at SANFL and maybe higher.

Yes - I think the Roosters are playing Blyth-Snowtown on the 17th.

Goes very well in B Grade. Should be playing A Grade but did not want to the last couple of years.

However he is keen to do so this year and thus far has looked good on the track and also on Saturday.

These days he plays across the FF line.

Well if there is a god...he has not yet answered my prayers! :)

But anything is possible. Has been out to a couple of trainings to punish us with running and ball drills, which was really good.

Hopefully he gets the itch to play again once SANFL and APFL starts!

Good addition is an understatement!

No real role I guess. Just seems happy to come out now and then and helps out with training etc of both Senior and Junior grades.

Understandably everyone lifts a little when he is out, especially the younger senior footballers.

Everyone loves seeing him out (although you know you are in for an extra tough session when he turns up :vom: )
