Sad news "listeners". Remember him from his days on SAFM with the chicken man episodes and his Ken Oath Ockerstra, funny stuff.
Trust the process.

Wow, as a kid/teenager i started listening to the infancy of SAFM and grew to understand what a great radio personality JV was.

I used to listen to SAFM religiously in those days.

My most cherised memory of Vinnie:

Driving to a job interview out on South Rd around Christmas time, and Vinnie and Grant Cameron played "Hey Santa Claus" by Kevin Bloody Wilson and attempted beeping out the rude words manually. You could hear them laughing/almost in tears in the background as the beeps progressively became later and later into the rude words. I remember looking around at the traffic lights at Port and South Rd and there were others sitting in their cars trying to muffle laughs and wiping away tears.

Admittedly I was young, but you cling to your youth and being 18/19, I just remember thinking how good life was at that time. I turned up to the interview with red eyes, but I couldn't explain the reason adequately enough to even start explaining, so I didn't bother. But for the rest of my days I remember that moment, and as far as I'm concerned, it's true radio magic!

And no, I didn't get the job!

Thanks Vinnie, you were a true legend!

Fantastic bloke

Anyone else got his album - Daughter of Owyagoin

I stil sing along to

"Mondays collection day, bang go the bins, all the city's garbos, takin away our sins.............."

"Backyard barby, boogie, oogie blues............"

"Take me back to Innamminka, golden city in the North......................"

He was the original Kevin Bloody Wilson
