Pretty good performance from the Blackbirds today. Collingwood looked the goods when they led by three goals in that third quarter. The move to release Hentschell to be the loose man across half back was a brilliant move by Craig.

yeah they deserved to win, but the Sunday Mail will do a 10 page spread on the Crows and cramp a one page spread on all the other teams and the SANFL.

Just catering to their market. :P

Also that goal from Walker marked the beginning of something very special indeed.

i agree, papers print want the majority want. if they didnt they'd be stupid. Crows deserve to enjoy that win - another thing, you have to give credit to craigy's plan and structure, he's a smart man.

One of the best and most enjoyable days @ the footy in years!!!!

the kids were amazing..
Petrenko and Walker should play all year...

Thompson in.. and Dangerfield should be 50/50 to play next week IMO.. between him and Cook.. on today's game, I would prefer to see Cook play again.
Port Power has 16 years history at Football Park...

The Port Magpies have 40 years history and the two shall never be confused or combined

After some thought, I reckon drop Dogga for Johncock. He wasn't outstanding today and as much as people don't like saying goodbye to those good honest battlers it's the only way we can move forward as a club. Dropping someone like a Dangerfield, who has so much upside, while a 29/30 year old Doughty continues to provide run of the mill contributions just isn't the approach to take if we are serious about lifting that cup again.

Ive been a big critic of Doughty in the past, but the senior blokes were invaluable around the Crows group of kids today and will remain so.

I thought Doughty was again one who remained calm and measured when the Crows had their back to the wall today, you'd hate to see a bloke like that not around the kids.

Agree with CP - and strongly disagree with you FD88, you have a short memory he had an excellent year last year and was very solid today. I do think shirley will struggle to get back in though.

I take your point flyer, his 2008 season was easily his best and don't worry, I remember it well! But we're talking about a player who doesn't offer anything dynamic; his disposal isn't damaging, he isn't particularly quick or agile, he certainly isn't someone opposition coaches actively look to quell. Even last season, as much of the footy as he found, these factors didn't change.

With 16 possessions today he contributed but his loose checking at times on Medhurst very nearly cost us the game. He is the bloke I'd omit if Johncock is ready to play. I respect your views though lads.

It depends a bit on how committed Johncock is this year. His form was patchy last year and his disposal patchy until they bit the bullet and dropped him.

C'mon HOF, it's a back page headline .. I agree the Crows can make massive headlines for the smallest (and unnecessary) reason, but don't whinge just for the sake of it.

What would you write at a headline?
What do you want to be written?
Are you having a slow day?
Is nothing happening in your life?
Spinifex and tumbleweed go rolling by and the crickets chirp and all is well in HOF-land.

What, didn't they win? It was a great win deserving of the lead story. Wasn't the headline you predicted.

Back to the game itself .... I was as impressed by the style of game and the ball movement as much as the young lads. They seemed to know what they needed to do.

Also, thank god we have the 3 amigoes for 1 more season at least. They keep things under control.

Nice to beat them over there after the pain of the loss in the finals last year.
In between signatures .....

Yes they did win but i thought the headline "Crows Draw First Blood" was a bit over the top. Sounds like they are in the Finals or something. It's only round one and they don't need to get too carried away. Something along the lines of "Crows upset Magpies" or something would have been more appropriate. That headline made it sound like the Crows were favourites.

By the way, i am not having a dig at the Crows, they played well and deserved the win, but i don't the headline was appropriate.
