Yes Bazza, it almost feels like we have come up against one another since we were wee tackers. If I had grown up that way, I am sure our parents would have had huge trouble getting us to come home from the park.
Thanks CK, now everyone can guess who I am.
As for '1 hit wonder' hopefully it will be this weekend.
I am old, the body is older, and my brain is having trouble catching up.
I felt good last weekend... just got off the mark, middled a little drive to mid-off... then Nick Work bowled that 'superball'. I think the keeper was lucky to have survived.
Hope to see you down at Hackham Bazza (a fair hike, I know), maybe ya mum could look after the little ones.... I'll even shout you a beer if you do

How about you shout a team mate first  .

Each player at Morphy Pk does a 3-2-1 vote, can't give yourself a vote, this is a players award which is done in all grades and we have medals named for each grade after club legends.
A count is then down in powerpoint display on our preso night, makes the night a little more interesting as only one person knows who has won the medals.

That sounds pretty reasonable to me. Out of interest who are your awards named after RM?

We have medals for every grade too, named after people who have done alot for the club. The Power point presentation sounds good aswell.

A8 thanks for helping me figure out what i wanted to no after your first post.

I think next year we should run (Bazza hint hint) a tipping comp for adelaide and suburban. Will be interesting to see who will prevail at the end of the minor round.

What did u want to know after my last post CK? I thgt my nick made my identity pretty obvious.
As for that 'shouting a team mate first' you dont go as far back as Bazza and I. I'll buy u a drink at your wedding reception.

An "A&SCA Tipping Competition" sounds like a great idea... Would you restrict it to Section 1 and finals? It wouldnt be too hard to organise (I may even volunteer to run it).

Warradale have a 3-2-1 voting scheme for each team, 66 votes all up per round, which when they first introduced it the 3 highest scorers for the round scored 3-2-1. Coromandel (not sure if they still do) have a maximum of 5 votes to give out per round, by the skipper, with the maximum a player can get being 2, and even 1 vote for 5 different players. If the teams performance was so bad there was the option to give no votes at all. In my opinion WYC 5/3 system is too 'open'. 3-2-1 gets my vote.

Back to te semi.... I was also surprised it was called off before the end of day 1, but i do have a couple of ideas on it. The first being the performance on day one did not warrant even the remotest chance of redemption on day 2. The second, this could just be the 'wake up call' some of the Ramblers lads need/require to help them 'step up to the next level' next season (only time will tell).

Can anyone confirm that ICC lost to Kenilworth back in Sect.5 in their first season?

60 overs in section 2 is the same 60 overs in section 6. Why anyone would prefer to play section 6 when they are more than capable of playing section 2, besides the ego trip (and perhaps to 'coach' youngsters), is beyond me. If Section 1 was reduced to 60 overs per day I would continue to strive to play A grade cricket. This 15 overs is all that my body ever complains about.

I can confirm that in their 1st season, the ICC Sharks went through undefeated.
You might be getting mixed up with the 1st game in Sect 2 the following season which I think was a loss to Kenilworth.

I would be interested to hear how it did.[/quote]

The opposition captain votes on 3,2,1, basis after the completion off the game votes are done when scorebooks are added up at end of day 2. There would be no one in plympton a grade deserving the b&f

So do the players themselves vote on it as well?

no

That really does sound like one of the stupidest things i have ever heard. Half the captains wouldn't take notice of what your guys did. They would just use the scorebook to pick the 3 "best" players which we all know doesn't always tell the true story. It is bad enough having an award the umpires pick let alone the opposition, it really astounds me that club does that  .

works fine for plympton....... nearlly 100% of votes are pretty accurate, every player who's won have all been deserving. So i think it works just fine. Maybe your just incapable of noticing good cricket... So dont bag something which you have NO idea bout....

Nah i do it nearly every week  . Every time we play Plympton we wouldn't be able to give a 3-2-1 not that many good players in your side  . You think it works fine which is your opinion and i think it sounds stupid that is my opinion. I am bagging it after i asked how it works so now i do know something about it i will bag it. I wonder if the Aussies got Graeme Smith to cast votes for the Allan Border medal..................didn't think so because it is a stupid idea.

Port Noarlunga has the Mick Fitzgerald medal for best A Grade player throughout the season.
This is voted on confidentially by Port players immediately after each game without voting for yourself.

( I know its a different comp but I thought I'd give an example of how a different club does things)

Thats what we do at the WYC. I believe it is the best system. The only thing that we may/should do different is to change to a 3-2-1 system as we currently do a 5-3 system.

Well i think its a bit stupid aswell. You could get some captains who dont give a toss and just choose the 3 best blokes or some that would actually sit down and have a think about it.
I think the best system would probably be a 3-2-1 system voted by the 11 players in the side. Because team mates no what role everyone else has done for the side. eg: bowlinga tight spell that has got wickets for someone else. I just cant see the logic as having the B&F voted by opposition captains. I would understand if there votes are included but not just them alone ...
Ahwells woodubelieve, may be arrogant but atleast we have some team harmony and people that wana play for our club, unlike you and bulldogs007 is that right?? lol Now keep talking about ur mate Ross Moore and his diving or something ridicolous
