yehhh you could just be right about ironbank getting the spoon, saw them against kangarilla on the weekend and heard they only had about 5 out, they won but they were nothing to rave about, kangy had 17 players out too!

My bad, yeah the Cutters should win that one.

As for the ladder i think it's going to be a very interesting season to say the least. Birdwood sound very solid to say the least. Lobey have picked up a heap of quality players. For mine i think Ironbank will take the wooden spoon this year. Onkas...who knows. Barker will be around the mark but nothing flash, a side like birdwood may very well challenge them this year, although ahving said that i'd like to see them play before i make any judgement. Bridgey i think will probably be below Lobey this year, given most of their recruits look like below par apart from Devries who is more injury prone than a soccer layer.

Very harsh assesment of some of the newbies to Bridgey without having seen them play. DeVries will be a gun, McLean will add some class and skill through the middle with Fosdike some in an under grunt work. Lancaster will comfortably hold down fullback which is huge for any team and Flinny will add some bite around packs along with being a good finisher.

I would say very handy additions.

You could be right there country vic. I was basing my judgement on someones assessment of the recruits who saw the picture of them in the courier and they said most of them looked as though they were partial to a few Supersized Macdonalds mcvalue meals, this could possibly be somewhere from the truth. Apolgies if you're one of those recruits which i believe you are. On second thought i can't see loby getting over you boys, but who know's, they've apparently picked up a few.

Technically not a recruit just joined up and as for the Maccas that is definately me your talking about, love my Triple cheeseburgers :) There was one other bigger boy in the pic but the rest are fit and move well. I guess so long as fatties like me don't get in those blokes way things should go ok.

Is the big cash outlay at bridgi a one season effort or will this be sustained past 2009?

Those Norwood players did not come for only a sixpack!

It appears former Port Power player Ben Eckermann has also signed for the Raiders. Tipping he is also on more than a six pack.

have just spoken with the big german tank & i can confirm that he has in fact hung up the boots. work commitments & lack of motivation (possibly due to having a new missus) leading to his decision. Littleswan he said that you would still catch him up the club getting loose.

yeah is a fair career move seeing he'd probably be earning more at bridgy than what he did at the power ;)

bridgy or mt.lofty... i think if you've played afl before than it really doesn't make much of a difference... either way its a huge drop.

with all due respect to Ben Eckermann, he only played a couple of AFL games, and for the past three years has flicked between Sturt's league and reserves team.

While he'll be a great addition to any HFL team, in 2008 he played mainly SANFL reserves, so the drop is hardly a freefall.

Seems some doubt that he's even signed for Bridgy - suppose we'll know soon enough. If he fronts at Bridgy training tonight, it would seem the Raiders have snared another good recruit.

A few of the boys at Uraidla who know him say he has definitely signed with Bridgewater. Huge coup for Bridgy.
