Fastest 50

Postby eags » Mon Dec 11, 2006 8:37 am

Michael Fraser (in his 1st A grade game) may have hit the fastest 50 ever in grade cricket on the weekend for West Torrens against Prospect. His 50 came off just 16 balls, including 16 off his 1st over and 28 off his second. Not a bad effort!!

Had 45 off 11 at one stage but blocked out 3 or 4 balls for some reason!

Some debate as to one delivery in the over of 28 -> was smashed to cow and dropped by a fielder very close the boundary and declared 4 by the ump, although some thought it was 6 which would have made it 30 for the over, breaking a few other records..

Not bad for a debut.

a blind criketer could make runs against the current Prossie side unfortunately...i remember when i was out there the kids playing A's now were struggling to make runs in the d's...due to poor player management 3-4 years ago and poor planning for the future, these kids are now being forced to play where they just arent good enough.

Its a pretty sorry state out there...the club as a whole only won its first game ( i think in the b's) 2 weeks ago.

O'Sullivan Beach player, Adam Parry has done a little better. I think he scored 38 from 1 over. There was 41 scored from the over which included 2 no-balls that we're hit for 6 and 1 no-ball that wasn't scored from.

I know a bloke who had 44 hit off his over during a country carnival in about 1999.
He never recovered from that.

when I was in yr 10, I was bowling to Jack Juniper in a first 11 game, it was st micks vs sacred heart
he hit me for 30 in an over, 5 sixes for the over, would have been 6 but missed the 3rd ball!
they were huge sixes aswell, on there main oval out the back, he was hitting them over the trees that line the fence!
killed my figures that day, if you didnt know that over, would still be not bad bowling though
I had 3/26 off 12 and finished the day with 3/56 off 13 overs!

Jack played A2 turf last couple of years for SHOC. Very sharp bowler and still hits them a very long way! Took about 20 wickts and 200 runs from about 8 games this year.

Bloke this season in low grade parkland cricket hit our side around a bit. Hit 100 off 28 balls or something. And his innings started the week before where he "blocked" out the last over and a half but stepping out to point and swinging wildly to midwicket. Or course he had been trapped LB on 65 or so only for the umpire to say "down leg - just like mine".

Two weeks ago would have been round 1, a little difficult to pick up a win before then. :D

Everything else you say isn't too far off the mark though.

Balding hit 157 off something ridiculous like 58 balls last weekend which included 16 6's. At the time he came in at 11 Fitzroy was 9/130 chasing 210...

Balding surely has the fastest 50 wrapped up. I know he hit one bowler for 28 off one over. He blocked 1 ball for his whole innings.

I reckon I played in that one, hit a few big balls square in to the church at Goolwa Oval...reckon he got his 50 of 16 balls that day
