Not taking a spare batsman on this tour has made the lineup weaker for this Test than it should be. Disappointing really that such an oversight can be made.

I think the current team was their Plan B all along, rather than being an oversight.

Problem has come up that MacDonald’s batting doesn’t seem to be up to test cricket to the standard they thought. They batted him at 6 in Sydney so there’s your spare batsman, in theory.

Not that I 100% agree with their theory

Brilliant one hander by Siddle! Having to go down to his right like that in his follow-through takes some doing.

Prince is looking really good.. he really is a good player.

Brad Haddin's keeping is really not up too scratch for International Level IMO.

Very very surprised McGain has not bowled yet. I wonder if Punter rates him.

Yeah, I can see why we're playing old folks McGain over Krejza who, you know, did take 12 on debut...

Have been questioning that myself. The man dives too much. Footwork not there. Some of his catches that look spectacular aren't necessarily so. A Healy or a Marsh would have gloved them still standing. Could be wrong....

Wonder how Krazy is feeling right now? :-?

This match is sliding away pretty fast unless we can make a bloody big score in the 2nd inns and look at saving it.

Siddle has bowled great by the looks of his figures. 18 overs 1/16. Cant someone back him up at the other end?

At least that puts an end to the McGain experiment. I was hoping he got picked for this dead rubber (after that bad tour match) so we could get the fascination with him out of the way ahead of the Ashes. If one spinner's going it should be Hauritz and if they want to take two the other one has to be Krejza.

That's ridiculous. I want Prince out but to give him out that way is just wrong. If the referral is conclusive then fine but there is no way that any replay shows that 100% he got a glove on it. I think he did but thinking is not good enough to give a guy out. It has to beyond all doubt. Terrible decision and this referral crap is a blight on the game.

I agree. Take the umpire's initial decision.

Agree. Can't possibly see how the decision could've been overturned based on the inconclusive evidence.
Yes, there was a suspicion that Prince gloved it BUT the rep;ays were NOT conclusive and the original NOT OUT decision should have stood.

Didn't look like any glove in that to me. How a referral system can get so many decisions wrong is, well, staggering.

And McGain, you are rubbish cya later.

I Thought the Referral system was brought in to overturn the Blatant Blunders by umpires but instead has made decision making even more a shade of Grey.
But....... then again, when has a decision or process implemented by the incompetent ICC ever been of benefit to the game of cricket in recent years?

Another Referral FARCE. Since when do we use referrals to judge wether runs are leg byes or off the bat?
Kallis was on 99 and ran a single which was signalled LEG BYE. A short time later, the umpire reversed his decision and changed the leg bye to a run off the bat which gave Kallis his ton bcos presumably the 3rd umpire saw that he got an inside edge on it.
This referral/3rd umpire decision making caper is becoming a farce.

In fairness, McGain just couldn't get his mystery "hoop downhill" ball working today.
