Where I am working, casually, us casual workers told to go home once work is done or not to come in until notified. (Pump manufacturer). Mining industry 1 reason for decline though one would think with a few desal plants things could pickup if get more contracts.
Was at Mitsi's and well we know that shut shop last year.

Buidling industry is becoming more and more cut throat. Feel sorry for the medium size companies cause when developers go out to tender they go out to about 7 - 12 different builders and the best price wins. Hard to compete.

it was beechwood, mcracken and rossdale are in trouble but hickambotham and their sub company statesman are booming

Mickey, Chemists have got the game skun, a captive audience mate.

Selling Viagra for the old blokes, condoms for the young blokes and tranquilisers and tampons for all the females gives you a huge advantage.

Work casually for a linemarking company, business hasn't really dropped off much at all. We have the contracts to do all the work for five councils around Adelaide. One is the Adelaide City Council, who have thrown more money than ever our way so far this year due to the Tour Down Under, Fringe and Clipsal.

Also have the state government contract for all reflective pavement marking work (little markers that are seen at night), and all the new work on government monitored roads in suburban Adelaide and south-east of the highway running up to the Riverland.

Add to this private jobs for any companies doing carparks or warehouses, and there is plenty for guys to do to keep busy. About 25 people out each day, as well as four in the office.

Luckily for me Kids always need an education...or they have parents who dont want them at home for more than the 12 weeks in a year they already are...so business is booming! Thanks to K-Rudd there is plenty happening in education.
Trust the process.

The company I work for has already begun to feel the pinch. No body will be laid off ( only 2 of us work in the Adelaide branch ) and our "orders in hand" are good to keep us busy for the next 6 months or so, but new enquiries have dropped significantly in the last two weeks.

Anyone else noticing a drop off?

Yeah boons, very much so things dropping off. Working in the construction industry you notice it a fair bit. Of course thats mainly due to the fact Banks have had to tighten up and work back to an LVR of 80% hence deposits are required and simply companies and people dont have them. But hey im still breathing and the football starts next weekend,
Read my reply. It is directed at you because you have double standards

I work in the food industry. Sales are OK in Supermarkets but in the Food service and Hospitality it is a bit of a struggle
The biggest impact we are seeing, is when a bill is not paid by the due date.
As soon as we are 2 or 3 days over from due date, a phone call is made.
It is almost paranoia. This is not just us.

PS We are also a lot hotter on holding deliveries if we have not been paid.
