As I said elsewhere, yes Norwood have been done and that means GUILTY - Noone is denying that, but now that it's done and dusted is there any chance you can stop 5 years worth of whinging? When this one runs out of Legs (pardon the pun) it will no doubt be about how poor Westies get raped and pillaged by Andy D and co. when noone else does .... Again ...[/quote]

No they don't get paid (money changes hands) but each AFL listed player has a nominated figure for each SANFL game that they play attributed agaisnt the salary cap. Not sure of teh exact amount but Dash's figures aren't wide of the mark
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

Yeah rediculous. SANFL clubs have no control on how many games AFL players play yet when they do play it counts in the cap. Could not have been easy for Norwood as they had a heap of these in and out of the team. All that considered it doesnt look good with this years recruits.
I'm very disappointed we breached the cap but at least this year the amount of AFL listed players is a lot less.

Bown, Dawes, Culpitt, Bartemucci, McDonnell, DeJongh must have been on very hefty pay packets ;)

I'll think you'll find the actual footy club is paying a fraction of that figure but they pay above award wages for collecting glasses and kitchen hands for certain people at certain licensed establishments....

Assuming you are pointing at North then you are perpetuating another "urban" myth. There is only one player (who is not high profile either) working at the Northern Tavern and none at Grand North.

So he is getting paid above award wage and doesnt even have to go into work! Thats a good deal. ;)

This lot you mentioned played 71 out of 120 minor round games

Yes I can see you point, Rob DeJongh must have earnt $0 playing league and with a league season like that i can see how he blew the budget lol 8)

Got this of the Norwood site and you may all be interested what at an info night gets told

Re: Info Night Wed March 11th.by Go Legs » Thu Mar 12, 2009 10:22 am

Also missed is that Borlace is not expected to resume playing in any side until mid season,
has now only played 6 games in 3 seasons.

JD will commence playing between round 1-3 depending on his injury recovery

An information meeting will be held on the first Wednesday of each month, as per last night

for the next 4 Wednesday night's Mark Ross will give a talk on various aspects of the Team and
Team structure, look for more info on the NFC web-site as to nightly topics.

Club is very pleased with the fitness level of all players, and were exceptionally pleased with their
fitness when returning to training in late 2008, the players are well advanced in this area for 2009.

The under 18's season structure has changed from that advised by the SANFL when clubs voted this
option in last year. The costs of running have increased above the "Plan" and the thought of having
3 games on the Parade on the same day will occur infrequently.

The NFC definitely have no charges against them for Salary Cap infringements, but admit it has been
very difficult keeping within the plan, hoping for some relief for season 2010 from the SANFL

SANFL ruling means each club under 18 side must play at least 2 games per season prior to the league side

Round 18 vs South at home will be a twilight game, meaning, Seconds start at usual time, followed by the
under 18's game then the League game will follow under lights (This is one of our under 18 games),
all clubs are very busy negotiating their rounds.

Therefore mark Round 18 down as a definite no TV coverage round.
(My personal comment, not that of the club)

The 3rd round game at Encounter Bay with South is now in doubt as the condition of the ground was not
suitable to play on first inspection, another inspection is due soon but if still not up to standard the NFC
will take a stand and refuse to play there.

Great news that Gary MacIntosh will present the guernseys for 2009, his presence has been sorely missed
at the club, many other past players have been sucessfully sought to come back to the club this year and play
an active role around the playing group. One notable among many is that Andrew Aish will become a player
mentor, anyone who knows Andrew's background since his playing days, knows this is an excellent selection.

All players at all levels will be under scrutiny whilst on the ground during training sessions and actual games,
any weakness spotted in their play will be noted and presented to a separate coaching panel for review and
scheduled one on one aditional training sessions, and continually reviewed until performance reaches
aceptable standards for their level.

I didn't quiet hear who was going to do this observation and one on one, but I thought it would come from
the past players group, If that is the case, what a terrific idea

Great meeting and information flow was excellent, make it a point forumites to attend and spread the word
to all members to make it if they can. why worry about rumours when you can get the truth first hand and direct
from the club. Questions were answered directly not duck-shovelled.

The session went for one hour and special thanks to Dom and Mark for making it possible.

That's about the extent of my memory on the matter

Cheers
Go Legs

Point taken Dreb but my point is smart clubs get a "third party" to top up any contractual agreement. Yeah I might have taken poetic license as to where the rumoured player might be working but the point remains as to who well paid players get remnerated.

Case in point Todd Grima and how we were able to "outbid" Centrals for his services last year.

I think Norwood should be let off and given a higher salary cap in the future.
Other clubs can qualify for the same concessions if they start serving a decent beer and have occasional appearance by Bundy girls too.

I can't go into bat for the club on breaking the cap, but can defend our CEO on this one ... No official decision by the SANFL had been conveyed to our club by the time the info night took place

With a nominal fee of about $500 counting against the salary cap for every game played by an AFL-listed player, that is hardly going to be the reason you exceeded the cap by $30,000.

Where did I say that was the reason we breached the cap? Just dont agree with AFL listed players appearances as being part of the cap.

And dash, you have way too much time on your hands. Cant you do something else instead of digging up dirt from other clubs? The info night was over a week ago.
And the "hefty pay packet" comment from me was tongue in cheek.
