Did you play with Coorong?

I played for Border Downs against Meningie, but a few years later than either of you.

Hey Ian, when did you play for Borders? I've followed the RMFL for the last 20 years (since 85), i support Tailem.

So are you going to have more than 3 local players in your A grade this year or not. I know some other teams are enjoying getting some of your other players.
Read my reply. It is directed at you because you have double standards

You seem to like talking about Tailem's outside recruits Stan, but never much of a mention about Jervois' recruits/match payments, and never anything about Meningie who had just as many outsiders last year. Tailem has a great record over the past 15 years, the one blemish being the grand final last year. The fact is Tailem is a proud club, it doesnt want to compete with Mypo for the wooden spoon by sticking with locals only.

So you would have played with some great players then i presume...the Hansens, Kielow, Kevin Lucas, Robbie Walter etc. Did you go to Border's reunion the other week?

I can remember watching Robbie Walter play before he went to the Bays, but he was a few years older, played with Kevin's brother Neville, Tim, Nigel and Andrew Hansen (I can't remember Tim & Nigels older brothers name, but I can remember him kicking a goal from the wing after the siren at Imperials home ground (Johnston oval I think?), and the last year of U17's I trained with the A's & B's, I can remember the first one of his stab passes I tried to mark lifted my feet off the ground when it hit me in the chest
Up until then, I think Robbie Walter was only 2nd player from the club to play league footy (other was North premiership player, David Burns).
Didn't hear about the reunion (I have a Uncle living at Coonalpyn, would have been good to be informed)

I think Dean would be the name you're thinking of. Him and his cousin Andrew both finished their career off at Tailem Bend. I think you're right about the 2 players to play in the SANFL, Matthew Dent (Sturt/Fitzroy/Bulldogs) became the third in the 1990's.

Thats right, it was Dean, I also played with Matthew Dent's older brothers, it's a pity the Hansens didn't finish off with Borders, their father (& Andrew's Uncle) King, had a lot to do with the club as well, was their leaving anything to do with the amalgamation, and move to the Mallee league, or was it before that?

Dean first played in 89 i think, Andrew put in a clearance the same year but borders woudnt allow it so he had ot stand out for a year. To be honest i'm not 100% sure why they both left Borders. Andrew would have played in about 3 flags with Tailem, Dean played in only one GF which was a losing one. They didnt merge with Tintinara til 93 so it wasnt related to that factor.

Easy tiger to get all rased up there. Im pretty sure Jervois or Imps wont need to be mentionted in the way of recurits now do they.

Anyway i was just asking a question. And then finshed with a statement that is not false.

Honestly i dont see what the big deal is, anyone would think Tailem was the only club that recruited outside players....its not actually restricted to Tailem so why even mention it!! Have a look at Lucindale in the South East....and why not mention Jervois's recruits? Why arent they worthy of mentioning? An Adelaide player went to Tailem and asked for $300 a game, they knocked him back, he went to Jervois and they paid him $400 a game, now isnt that sort of thing a bit more relevant than Tailem recruiting outsiders...as i said theyre not the only club to do it, so why the big deal? And who are the Tailem Locals playing for other clubs that you mentioned? I'm not saying there arent any, but would be curious to know who you're referring to.
