I heard that the pitch was repaired and the umps were ready to go at about 3. The SHOC boys disagreed and the umps called the forfiet.

Thats weird as they at the shoc B grade game by 2pm. Umpires said it was dangerous...game abondoned. Dont embroil the SHOC CC in this.

Heard that the pitch was dug up at both ends, but the curator repaired it using cut outs from directly behind the stumps.

Pitch looked playable, umpires consulted and said that the game would go ahead. SHOC refused, complaining that it wasn't worth getting injured on and talk sueing!

SHOC walked away, so umpires deemed that they forfeited.

As stated both teams were goin to achieve nothing from digging it up, as SHOC could go nowhere on ladder, but if pitch was 'unplayable' & called off Walkies would get 'draw' points and chance 2 teams below could move out of relegation with a win!

Talk sueing? Think more of the case that the divots were on a good length and someone could be liable if someone gets injured...im sure any club that was batting doesnt want to bat with divots on a good length! Anyways if Walkerville wanna play it that way then good luck to them

I spoke to one of the umpires who officiated the Walkerville/SHOC game on Saturday night and he definitely said it was not fit to play.

....and to the person from SHOC who rang up 5AA last night and suggested Walkerville doctored their own pitch....poor form buddy!

Did you ask him whether it was abandoned or a forfeit?

He said it was abandoned. There was no mention of forfeit. I'm sure it will get sorted out and the result will end up a draw - 5 match points each.

Doesn't really change much. Final 4 is settled and Kilburn & Marion go down, which is probably fair as they both have been pretty ordinary this year.

Most clubs would already know who and where they are playing. Should be announced on the website pretty soon i'd think.

I was one of the Walkerville players at the Walkerville v SHOC game. There was no accusations of SHOC damaging the pitch. We consider them better blokes than that. We were keen to try to start and offered to bowl spin bowlers from one end. if there was any problems with the pitch then the umpires would have pulled the pin and both sides would have lived with the decision.
The pitch and been repair and considering the damage quiet a good job done. It was just a poor way to finish the year and no fault pointed at the opposition.
The final decision was passed by the umpires and ATCA.

Great to see such restraint from everybody on here as to not naming the club that could have benifeted from the game being drawn and that club winning on saturday, needless to say their opponents were far too good for them and the cricket gods always come out on top in some fashion.

I think that the fact that you have stayed up, despite the abandoned game, means that, really, no harm has been done.

I dont think anyone on this string has ever proposed SHOC as the culprit; nothing to gain for them other than an early minute

Who do people like in the Semi's this week?
In A1 I reckon Pulteney will easily defeat SPOC. The Princes v Adelaide High OS match should be a much more even contest. Going for Princes just but it wouldn't surprise if Adelaide High do get over the line
In A2 you can't go past Woody South over Scotch although if Harvey bowls like he did last match the Cats could be in for a tough time. In the other semi I'm tipping Hope Valley to smash Unley. Vaughan is the key for Hope Valley & Watson for Unley. Both sides have good bats but Hope Valley's bowling attack is a lot stronger than Unley's.
In A3 Flinders Park will smash Goodwood and ROCS will belt Reynella. Both ROC's and Flinders Park are a class above any other side in the A3 competition.
