Thought it may be worthwhile people putting their reviews of shows in for others who may be contemplating shows. Remembering - they are only opinions, and one man's Seinfeld is probably another man's Craig McLachlan:
- Pete Monaghan: Monnerisms - Griffins Head, 7pm, Sat. Feb 28
Preview show, the crowd level was a bit disappointing (16), but were in stitches for the night. Monaghan became a first time dad 7 weeks ago and in his words, this contributed to a couple of bits being slighty unrehearsed. With expected references to the credit crisis, there was some topical humour, but he kept the crowd in the palm of his hand all night with some really funny observations on signs in pubs, Warney's retirement and a host of other ideas. Dealt well with an unofficial, self appointed support act in the front row throughout and the small room was rocking with laughter throughout. Highly recommended, and at $18 for adults (check for discounts on this one - they apply on certain nights), good value.

- Rich Naberhood, Sugar, 274 Rundle St, 9pm, Feb. 28
A preview show that was packed to the ceiling, there had been plenty of hype about the local comedian that is marketing his own DVD and book at the door. Have to be completely honest and say this was disappointing. Had heard a lot of this material before in emails, sketch shows etc - you could say the punchline very early on in stories (eg. Go to the bar, ask for 10 drinks, the barman says are you okay, and he says, if you had what I had, you would need them. "What have you got?" "85 cents".). Very likable bloke with great stage presence, but it was simply a lot of rehashed stories that had been done many times before. One other small observation - not sure about performers that drink throughout the show either. Counted 3 stubbies. No wowser at all, but not sure it was entirely necessary.
With Naberhood coming from the Northern suburbs, there was some very funny material about the various suburbs and name changes they have gone through, and a part about the people in the major shopping centre in the district was very funny, but thought, by and large, it was a bit old. The pro-Northern crowd loved it, but not entirely sure I'd see it again.
