G'day TRBC,
What gives me the sh*ts is having ANY road works during peak hour traffic.
All work on main roads in capital cities should take place after hours.
The higher wage cost for overtime penalties is probably insignificant when compared with the
pollution and millions of dollars in wasted time, fuel & productivity these bottlenecks cause.
Adelaide’s traffic lights are already hopelessly synchronised to ridiculously low revenue raising
speeds. How many times have you been stopped at a red light with dozens of other vehicles,
while nothing is crossing in front of you ?
Being on the road every day, I’ve noticed a lot of main roads where other drivers travelling at
5kph or more over the speed limit will get a clear run, but those of us on or below the legal limit
will cop every red light at every intersection.
So why the ‘Speed Creepers’ campaign ?
Have our road safety ‘experts’ designed the system thus to maximise revenue, or am I crediting
them with smarts beyond their capabilities ?

Try Victoria where they give you a 3 Km/hour margin before pinging you, while your speedometer is allowed to be +/- 10%...Aceman wrote: F'ing Speed Cameras - copped my first one for 13 years a couple of weeks ago.
Main North Road Blair Athol on the down hill run from Track n something car yard doing 67 in a 60 zone. No longer a reasonable buffer so Bingo, I'm gone.
So in a nutshell, I hate the Pr^cks and they give me the sh*ts

On my trips to Adelaide, in December and January, I got pinged both times at 108 in 100 zones on Victoria's Western Highway, despite carefully checking at the checking stations on the highway when you are leaving Melbourne and confirming that according to VicRoads I am doing 100 when my speedo reads 109, and locking the cruise control at 109 accordingly. The first trip I thought I may have had a lapse but I was very careful the second time. I have written about it to my local state MP, a Minister in the government, asking what is going on here, and whether VicRoads testing stations are misleading the public or the devices on the roads are inaccurate, but there has been no reply...
OK he could be busy because of the bushfires.
I've paid both to avoid wasting my time in court, but I'll keep nagging him, and perhaps sent a copy of correspondence to the RACV, and to a journo I know at The Age, if nothing happens over the next few weeks. But, I doubt either organisation will take it up because of government pressure..

I have a mate that got pinged for doing 68 in a 60 zone in a small town of Tasmania over new years - only recieved an $80 fine with loss of one demerit point. In SA that would be at least $180 with 2 or 3 demerit points. Whats going on there?

Sorry mate, the nesting got me confused. I've edited and fixed my error, and Jimmy will probably do the same on his post later.SABRE wrote:Psyber & Jimmy_041,
Please take care when editing quotes. Aceman's quote was attributed to me.
I'd like it to be noted that I said no such thing.
I simply agree wholeheartedly with his sentiments.
