If we are going to live in the past then we should bring up the time when Aldinga kicked a goal from halfway against flagstaff hill a few years ago. Or we could bring up the 6 premierships in a row that still stands in the SFL record books. Better to keep with the times. Looking forward to playing a different side on wednesday

we had 5 or 6 A graders play about half the game each.

no idea how they're guna go in div 6, not sure it was just our poor run and decision making that made them look good, or if they are a genuinely good footy side.

i will say that they're running in numbers from behind the ball was real good, although it was also the sharkies not being accountable for their men and chasing them down the field.

clg spent big on players ( from what i heard ) couple of seasons ago. they were great against us in a trail game last season aswell. they only fell over towards the end of last season in the finals.

Not a good sign Big Bang when one of your strengths this year was going to be the fitness of the team and theres no accountability for their man.

I know Colonel Light Gardens have a lot of ex-victor young guys that are all around 23 years or thereabouts and are handy footballers. A very disappointing showing in 60 mins of footy tho TBB.

Hopefully just a hiccup for the sharks or it could be another long year down at Shark Park!

CLG will be a top 3 side in Div 6. Probably unlucky not to go up to div 5 last season. The div 6 comp is very even and the top teams could easily match up well in higher divisions. Having said that, getting beat so easily there must be some worries for the new coach, it may look like another bottom 4 finish for the sharks.

Totally agree BTP. Stories of no accountability starts to worry me, the result isnt what matters but the style of play and commitment does immensely.

I think 32 scoring shots to 2 in 60 mins of football means theres something wrong. You would hope the players coming back in are very very capable and the positive work done over the offseason can translate into some onfield success.

We were under the impression that CLG were playing a B grade side so that's what we did as we have another trial on saturday.

Having said that it was very very disappointing to see so many easy errors. Truth of it all is that we can't make excuses because when A graders get injured these are the guys that will have to step up and by last nights efforts we are a long way from having good depth to fill spots.

BJ one thing I have learnt in footy and I'm sure you will know that match fitness and lap fitness are two different things.... Some of the guys did look in good nick but to CLG's credit they made even them look average.

Team bonding and the willingness to work will have to be addressed soon as the season is only weeks away now.

I do however feel if it was our full strength A grade squad, things would have been much much different.

I had a squizz at the game just to check out where CLG were at, they were good but Aldinga made them look really good. Their game plan was riddled with unnaccountability, and lacked direction from what i saw. It didn't look as though any of the clubs leaders were out there, someone needed to take the reigns and say 'do this, do this, man this guy up, someone drop into his hole, be aware of turning the ball over in the corridor'.

The cattle they had out there just wasn't up to scratch, and i hope that there's at least 6-10 solid A-graders to come into that side. They seemed a bit timid in going in and getting the footy, only a few lads really had a red-hot crack. Has their pre-season been based too much on improving levels of fitness, they didn't seem match-hardened, or switched on.

I really hope they sit down after that and knuckle out their game plan and make sure all the blokes stick to it. I've been an avid onlooker of the sharks for many years, and really hope they do well this year, or at least build on and improve on what they did in 2008.

I would imagine that is the purpose of playing trials. So you can learn and test the game plan.
The Coach can see a new group in different positions
For 30 years I have seen players come out to preseason, they look great, enthusiastic, really fit and skills don't look too bad.
Come to game time the Coach then finds they can't get the footy and run around like headless chooks.

It amazes me how carried away people get with a mid week trial. Settle down everyone, Sharks delibrately didnt play a game plan / best players or ANY set plays. The game on Wednesday night was purely an extra hit out. Saying that, there is work to do and i promise the coach is WELL aware of the areas that need improvement

That comment doesnt make any sense why would you play a game to get nothing out of it.The whole purpose of a trail game is to TRY new things as positions for players Zones Forward line set ups etc.If you lose by a few goals doing that at least you give yourself a reference point to work on at training for the coming weeks. To sit there and say we didnt try anything and get flogged by 20 goals just doesnt add up to me.Why would you bother playing in the first place.

I dont even know why i am bothering to reply as it has NOTHING to do with you, but Match fitness for example?? Sharks Still have 2 more FULL trial games. Most clubs only play 2 and we are having 4 all up. Also the fact that the Sharks coach is mates with the CLG coach and it was a favour so both clubs could gain match fitness. It didnt suit Sharks as we have a game on Saturday as well.
