hey chaps

I think most teams have gripes with all umpires. I heard about the PV incident, and heard both sides. It all sounds a little out of control to me....but i could be wrong?? the same individual involved was also involved in an "altercation" with us some time ago. Things happen on the cricket field, threats are hrown around by both sides of the coin, but nothing ever enventuates....its just petty. Our tiff with PV was quite serious, we had to sort it out at an exec meeting. It was sorted out, perhaps not fully, but subsequent games went on without a hitch and in good faith. Should we have dictated that we would not play PV with this person in the team? no, rediculous of course.

I hate all umpires, they never do right by me.....lets get that straight!! To have a team dictate to the association what umpires it wants it just redicuous, and for the exec to accept this is just plain weak (hello to all the exec people on here). If it was THAT much of an issue, george should have been kicked out a long time ago and none of us will be talking. I couldnt believe last year that george wasnt going to umpire the GF, given there were only 2 umpires in the div.

One suggestion our club put fwd was to "rate" the umpires. If 5 teams rate him well, and 1 team rates him bad, then there is no issue. If vice-versa however, then something needs to be done. At the AGM this suggestion was laughed off as "too much extra paperwork"......well, this paperwork may have saved us all. One to consider next year...again.

Anyway, i wont be around wk 1 of GF, but wk2 i will. Sounds like its gonna be a woot woot rip snorter of game. PV havent peaked yet, but NEK have tasted blood. Wow, wouldlove to see the first ball this week.
You stoopid f**k !

Not having a go at the Association, ok maybe I am, but the old Independent Central was so much better run. We just didn't have the teams.

I remember all the merger talks, the sticking point being Independent Central clubs wanted umpires and Churches didn't. I still can't believe we don't give an umpires report after the game, and we don’t have an umpires co-ordinator. The report took two minutes FFS.

The idea is not only to develop cricketers, but to also develop umpires as well.
