Mallala - Southern ($600)
Two wells - Will Sansbury ($300)
United - Mills ($400)

Balaklava - Walker ($400)

I could be well out of the ball park but its just figures I have heard around the traps, I am happy to be corrected if I am wrong

Hummocks - Thomas $450

Only seen 3 games all up when Greg Phillips (screw driver) was playing there. Good ball reader and vigilant, was more the type of ruck that gave handballs to running player around midfields and back rather than kicking it but when around goal had a crack himself. Got in best players each time was down there. Not sure what he would be on but he seemed pretty modest so my guess would be $200.

Very very very observant BenC, Im impressed!!! But.....how can you possibly estimate what a player is on after watching 3 games????? Is that based on the HB equation of paying "modest" players, $200 hey?? How many modest players do Hamley have playing this year?
I think you just blew all your credibility out of the water BennyC

Like i said, i went down there to watch screwy play. So when we caught up other than this football and premierships were part of the conversation. He conveyed these comments additional to my observations. If still in good condition, $200 for premiership playing rucks is modest i believe.

You can't do any better than give this forum quality information on what you've seen first hand. Not sure what the joke is either Benny, but since you obviously know what goes on in other leagues anytime you wanna come to United, we're always looking for quality observant people. Keep it in mind.

So how much did Hummocks pay him to stay? If you're forking out for recruits it's only fair to pay loyal clubmen like Samuel.

Think we gave him a great club atmosphere at a successful club where players dont have regular brawls with each other at the pub etc after games, I think he was happy with that :D

Can anyone recall whether their team has ever played a trial game on their bye on the first week of the season?

Dunno about that one. Prob not the ideal preparation given most clubs would have trials the 3rd and 2nd weeks prior to the season and then have a recovery week. Though given the 2nd week prior is Easter for those clubs this year, its prob not a silly idea, maybe a mid week trial under lights eg 10 days before.... Are Two Wells planning one the week before??

Apparently yes they are - sounds like it will be on the Friday evening since the league knocked back a request for a daylight Saturday 18th game.

Are you saying the league has control over the times in which trial games are played??

think i have heard about this problem before.
it isnt that the league controls the trial games
BUT because the season has started (on the saturday)

does make sense - it would be the same as letting a team play a trial game on the last round of the year so they didnt have a bye going into the finals.
