Kudos to the curator.

Lets hope Durban can dish up something similar

The beauty of test cricket. What a fantastic days play and of course a fantastic win. I must admit it surprised me how well we bowled especially with the level of discipline.

Just do what South Africa normally do and play for a couple of draws now and get out of there with the series win and holding onto the #1 ranking!

What went wrond with Kallis when Amla got out?

He just closed up shop like that wicket had been decided by the team as the trigger for closing up shop. The hour after Amla got out, regardless of DeVilliers dismissal was the end for SA IMO.

This could turn out to be one of the most important test wins for many years. Apparently Durban turns a bit so McGrain will get his chance probably for McDonald. McGain will be asked to bowl a lot of overs as our three main bowlers will be feeling the strain in the latter stages of the next test. Our batsmen can do their bit by making sure the Saffies spend a lot of time in the field.

Well done boys!

Fantastic effort lads, I must admit I for one had doubted their capabilities, but they showed plenty in this match.

Interestingly 4 test matches between these two teams for a 2-2 ratio, and every one of those games could have gone the other way ... I wish we played the Saf's every year, it's just riveting test match cricket of such high quality.

Im sure the lads enjoyed a few froffies beneath the Southern Cross last night, and so they should!! :D

Well done to the boys on a great confidence booster. Thats 2 in a row now and lets hope they put the series beyond doubt and make it 3 in a row. To win the game with three blokes making their debut is also a great effort and they all made contributions which is fantastic for them. It is always good cricket between these two and i think a sign of how much respect we now have for SA is how many people on here believed they could chase it down, only 12 months ago we would have all laughed at their chances. They have come a long way and it shows that whilst we may have slipped a little our best is still very good. Bring on the second test.

I think everyone over reacted to their start to be honest.

We were never going to lose that game IMO with that score on that pitch.

Fantastic win, terrific performance by North, Ponting, Clarke and Johnson in the first innings with the bat especially North and Johnson. The bowling was excellent and very disciplined. Johnson and Siddle the star with a special mention to McDonald who actually bowled very well despite all the flak he has been getting.

1 up in a 3 match series is very hard to come back from but if anyone can do it it is the South Africans. Should be a brilliant series again. I expect McGain to come in for the next test probably for McDonald. It will be good to see him get his chance.

A very entertaining article indeed, although I wonder if the author is aware of the irony when a South African pushes the racism button on Australia?
