I'm being serious here. If Australia can't win this Test, they may as well come home. Trouble is, South Africa haven't got anyone likely to bat like an idiot ... like Hussey.

Snapshots

Hughes was unofficially out 4 times this test

Ther have been 2 referrals both go against Paul Harris, both times wrong

Johnson has bowled about 425 overs since the Indian tour of 2008 in Tests

Siddle was no balled for bowling 3 bouncers in an over

Might as well abolish the referral system if snicko not used for caught behinds and lbw's

When the score was 116 this was the scoreboard
SA 1/116
61 smith
16 amla

Still a big job in front of South Africa.

Look we've got to be patient bowl to our plans and most importantly bowl in teh right areas.

McDonald has a big role to play here as witht eh wicket keeping lower he can dry up an end and with Haddin up and Macca bowling wicket toi wcket LBs are a big chance.

To lose patience is to lose the war.

Quietly confident

Do you reckon he might have been batting to instructions, I mean both he and Ponting were trying to force the issue to set up a declaration.

You could mount a case for that if Hussey had a look at, oh, I dunno, 2 balls before he went the axe...

IMO it was a selfish grab at digging himself out of a trough.

mike hussey will be in the ashes squad. But he needs runs or he could quite easily lose his spot in the 11

Maybe you should be flown over dutchy to help fire up the attack after grabbing a couple of big scalps on the weekend?

Hussey has been in a Test run slump all Summer. Quite surprising that the media haven't been all over him.

South Africa bat Deep. I just hope Mitch Johnson has enough left in the tank to take a few and get the ball rolling. We will need him and Siddle to lead the way and get some early wickets.

Surely we can't lose this game from here. It would be the most embarassing loss for a very long time if we did.

Personal view is that weather / light will still be an issue an hour after tea. They need 270 in a little over even time (if we short on time) and we will need prob three in the first session (minimum two), to get it done if we losing time.

After sleeping on it now I think the equation is simple: three wickets in quick succession before they crack 230 or they will win EASILY.
