Talk on any country footy league or club from the SA Country area

Postby Alaska » Fri Aug 25, 2006 3:01 pm

Capper is the current junior colts coach at Hahndorf and I think is angling for a senior coaching spot somewhere in the Hills.

Birdwood have put together a 5 year plan based on their strong Juniors and the atmosphere around the club this year seemed a lot more positive and progressive than previously. Their Juniors certainly were well coached and displayed areas of sportmanship I have not seen previously. They will have to pay some more players though and getting some back from Lobey would help. Perhaps they have got a line into some of that Hughes money?

Having said that this is something Meadows could have tried over that last few years for the same reasons, but always said the sponsorship is not there, so perhaps it is the mighty $ driving Birdwood.

footballer wrote:guys this forum is turning to shit. stop talking crap about paid players its boring and everyone does it, some clubs are just better at it. get over it and find something interesting to talk about. are there any new ideas on blackwood changing leagues to ametuers, their numbers are ridiculous. what would happen if bridgy decide to drop to country would birdwood still come up to central? would seem stupid for them to come up yet still have an uneven number of teams. any thoughts? robby i know you have connections with the league what can u find out? just anything to stop the crap about paying recruits and constant bullshit about lofty vs uraidla. wait til they play next time to start talking crap again.

Sorry to bore you footballer. There are other forums.
BTW - your Birdwood subject has been discussed a fair bit here, but no-one came out with cold hard facts, but it does appear from some sources that it's a definite. Sorry, was that too "shit"?
Either the HFL rep guernesy would be worn or as in amateurs, I think there's a fluro guernsey option.
Blackwood numbers have been ridiculous for AGES. As far as I know, as of the start of this year, Blackwood finances were not great, spot on , Army Tank. Apparently local businesses weren't putting cash up, and some people were getting sick of that lack of local support.

Army tank you make a good point RE: club heritage. I'm sure some of the old clan would love to see the Heathfield/Aldgate or Stirling colours back. Given their success in the 70's, I'm not sure other clubs would like to see a H/A side running around again though. Personally, I'm open to the idea of recognising the founding clubs, but having only been around for the last 10 year, it would be disappointing to see the Devils 'Red and White Army' have to change their spots.

On Capper lining up against his old club, what does everyone think about changing clubs? Personally I could never play against the Devils and give 100%.

The salary cap (cheats) wouldnt have enough money to get heritage guernseys as they are paying to much money to there players

most teams that were serious about being successful were paying players in the 80;s wether it be in teh form of cash or on the bar every club would have been paying money out in that time.
i hate to say it but i agree with special k...bridgewater's future is in serious doubt with very little obvious talent coming through the junior ranks and not enough money to bring in any superstars from town.
birdwood should not be coming up to div 1. they are constantly getting flogged in A grade and would not be within 20 goals of hahndorf let alone the likes of mt lofty and uraidla. the team that should come up should acually be the one that wins the club shield. seeing as kangarilla and TV drew TV should be coming up because they have juniors.

Bobby have you seen TV Juniors? All that would happen is Hills getting a bad name and they would not be able to field junior sides each week through red cards.

Cheers, Robby.
For me...
Mt Lofty (easy)
Lobey (cos season's on the line)
Onkas (by a lot)
Blackwood (20 goals)
If all this comes about...I guess it'll finish
Lofty
Uri
Onkas (same points as uri's!!)
Lobey
Hahndorf...any thoughts?

alaska your right, the juniors would struggle badly...but would you rather the juniors struggling or the seniors because the fact is that their seniors would do ok compared with birdwoods...i would much rather see meadows up in div 1 before birdwood because they would be competitive in juniors and still ok in seniors

i think that the salary cap is about $35000 roughly, i dont know how it is policed maybe the clubs have to prouce a statement saying how much theyre paying to each player to the league. i dont think money should be the issue in this forum, much better to concentrate on the weekends footy and abusing sloppy skills
