Can anyone help with VHS/DVD copies of some old games?

Postby Squawk » Fri Feb 27, 2009 7:55 pm

I've got a workmate who is an avid Glenelg fan, and he is looking to source copies of some old games - if you can help, please let me know by reply post or PM.

Wanted: VHS/DVD copies of the following games:

1976 SANFL Prelim (Glenelg vs Sturt)
1977 SANFL Prelim (Glenelg vs West)
1977 SANFL GF (Glenelg vs Port)
1982 SANFL Prelim (Glenelg vs Port)
Plus
1984 State of Origin (SA vs Vic)

Thanks.

Tell your workmate to post a request on the "buy, sell, swap, borrow or brag" forum over on snoutslouts.org.

Incidentally if he manages to snag an entire copy of the '82 prelim, tell him I will gladly trade my firstborn for it...

Fair to say that if any one has a copy of the 82 Prelim final and can copy it, early retirement is an option courtesy of the Snouts....

Oi Psuedo, get in line....
Let that be a lesson to you Port, no one beats the Bays five times in a row in a GF and gets away with it!!!

I have copies of the 1973 and 1977 grand finals on VHS videos. When I say I have them, they are currently with a work colleague in Sydney... but I will get them back if you want to look at or copy them.

To Squawk - I haven't forgotten about the 1973 and 1977 GFs... my work colleague interstate has been on leave... I'm still chasing them up.

To all, I cleaned up my shed last weekend and found a couple of other old VHS tapes:
1980 GF Port v Norwood
1988 FG Port v Glenelg
1984 Sth Aust v Vic
1987 VFL/AFL GF Carlton v Hawthorn (I know I shouldn't mention it on here).

If anyone's interested you can have them. I can't guarantee quality.

I am looking forward to visiting Adelaide in May and seeing Gerry from At The Toss Of A Coin once again in the process. Having bought the 1981 and 1990 SANFL season videos from him, I am going to see if I can hunt down one or two more videos as well as a copy of "Crashes & Clashes" (either there of if anyone else has access to a copy) - it used to be a rental video in my local video library in the early 90s but unfortunately it's been a long time since I've seen a copy.

I am also keen to locate some Channel 9 coverage of old SAFA matches, and am willing to trade for old WAFL Grand Final DVDs (most clubs sell these for under $20) from the 70s and 80s - some very well known names (and fights) in a couple of them.

A programme like "Any Old Converter" can allow you to copy YouTube clips to DVD. Of course, you won't get full matches on YouTube, but I have some good 5-6 minute clips of State of Origin from 1984 to 1987 (SA-Vic and WA-Vic), as well as SANFL, VFA and VFL footage that way. Just Google "Any Old Converter" and download the programme.

Email Shawn Ford for possible copies; shawnf@sanfl.com if he doesn't have them, Rob Oatey may. Think they sell for about $30.
